The company charged my account 15 days before authorization and I have been getting the run around trying to have the charge refunded.Business response

I have a membership at "The Joint." I typically go to. The doctors are phenomenal. Great service. My issue is the cancellation policy. I live 30 minutes from this location, which is the closest. I worked in close proximity to the ****** **** Drive location. I will now work entirely from home, 30 minutes away. I called to cancel my membership. I was told by receptionist that I have to physically come into the office to cancel. I asked that the cancellation document be emailed to me. She refused saying that it was policy. She then called me back after speaking to her supervisor confirming that I could not cancel over the phone or via a fax/online. Gas is over $* a gallon and it would take at least an hour round trip to go there just to sign a piece of paper. I simply want to cancel the membership without going into the office. Very insensitive policy. Is it even legal to have only one option to cancel a membership?Customer response

The company emailed a cancellation form to me. I signed it and emailed back. I received confirmation from them that was received. Issue resolved. Thank you for your help.Initial Complaint

I need to cancel my membership with this organization. I made it clear that I can no longer use their services because my new job is a 70 hour per week position and they are closed on my only day off. It is physically impossible for me to go into their office during business hours. As a way to prevent me from canceling, they are trying to make me physically come to the office to sign cancellation paperwork. I told them that I will be happy to print and sign any form they need. I made it clear that I can do Docusign or any digital signature service that they wish so that we can cancel my membership. I have made it clear that I do not authorize any further charges for any reason from their organization and that my membership needs to be cancelled immediately. They refused to terminate my membership and told me that I can drive across the state to one of their branches that is open on Sundays and cancel my membership there instead. This is unacceptable. This is a shady business practices designed to delay my cancellation long enough for the business to charge me for another month of services.
