We engaged BRP construction to complete the remodel of two bathroom in June of 2023. All materials were supplied by us, the homeowners. Currently work on the first bathroom remains unfinished and work on the second has not begun. The work completed on the first bathroom is not of satisfactory quality and in one instance a toilet was left leaking which required an emergency call was required to a third party plumber to prevent damage to the home. The owner of BRP was apprised of the leak and given ample opportunity to correct prior to engaging a third party. We are now having to engage a third party contractor to complete the first bathroom and to complete the second. Our home was left with tools and construction debris in various rooms, damage was done to our entry stairs and hallway as a result of the work. The new tile that was installed by BRP was damaged in the course of additional work by BRP team members because they failed protect the floor and tub area. The bathroom remains unfinished and unusable. We have made repeated attempts to resolve the matter with the owner to no avail.Business response

The pictures the client has submitted show minor items that were yet to be finished. The reason being is her and her husband continually refused access to the home for my employees. We were denied access to finish the job on the final day, 3 separate attempted visits. As I have told the client, I am not refunding them 50% of the ******************** of some missing caulk, or grout that needed to be touched up. That is absurd. The client has also held hostage over $1500 in tools unless we pay them $3000 they are requesting.Customer response

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.In the pdf of the emails you can view the breakdown of the requested amount of $3687.50. $1112.50 was a part of the original deposit that is for the second bathroom on which no work was started. $575 is for the emergency plumbing work which in the email he committed to reimbursing. $500 is for waste clean up left by the crew and $1500 is for corrective tile work. Im very happy to resend the documented emails if they didnt come through in the original submission- but it is all there. A copy of the contract which also includes the breakdown of the original deposit amount which will provide justification for the $1112.50 is in the email- but very happy to resend if that didnt come through as well.
Youll also see in the email exchanges the multiple requests for timing on when the team would be coming - we welcomed the team on a Saturday when it was communicated in advance. The times the team was turned was when we had no advance communication of their arrival. We requested on multiple occasions that the owner come to our home personally (evidenced in the emails). The tools may be picked up at anytime upon coordination of a pickup time. They remain in our garage- documented in the emails and pictures.
