The morning of November 29, 2023 we woke up to our apartment at 50 degrees because our heat would not turn on. We put in a maintenance request to our rental company Pierce Arrow in ********, ** so they could repair it. They stated they flipped the breaker and everything was fine however, 30 minutes later our heat went out. We have several copies of work orders we have in which we have requested them to come fix the heat. They have told us to just plug in space heaters and they will have a general contractor come out to look at the apartment. They told us that the contractor stated that there are "electrical wiring issues" and that the breaker box needs to be completely replaced. They said they wouldn't pay for us to live somewhere else in the meantime so we are on the 4th day without heat or a working breaker box. We didnt have heat or a working stove for the first 2 weeks we lived there. About 2.5 months ago we had a leak in our bathroom ceiling so we called emergency maintenance to come out. They came out and said it was fine and there wasnt anything they could do that night so they would come back the next morning. The next morning our ceiling collapsed to the ground- thank goodness we werent in the bathroom when this occurred. The regional manager ***************** refused to pay for our hotel stay while they made repairs and requested that we follow the lease and file a claim with our renters insurance to request to be reimbursed. So as a graduate student, I had to outright pay for hotel costs and wait for them to possibly approve the costs of lodging. The breaker box has been broken since we moved in and consistently will need to be flipped when it shuts off. ************** solution was for us to plug in space heaters which then caused our breaker to trip and we lost power. They haven't sent an electrician to do an inspection of apt. Yet again they have refused to pay for a hotel for the inconvenience, safety issues regarding the electrical wires, and lack of heat.
