On 1/30, our realtor, *************************, procured bids for a soil engineer for a septic tank in need of replacement. With any typical bid, the expectation is the bid will be an estimate of all the work involved in the job. ****** at Mathews Soil advised ****** of the following: "******** soil scientist. $600-$900 depending on what they see. and they give you everything you need to turn into the county for a replacement permit. They can be there in about a week to do the soil test and advise of tank requirements.Based on this bid we chose Mathews over the other companies. The work was completed on 3/16/2023 We received at invoice for $824.00 which we paid. On 3/24, we received another bill via email for the amount of ******. We contacted Mathews Soil on 3/24 but never received a call back. On 5/2, we received another now for ******. I contacted ****** regarding the charges and explained what we were quoted originally and this second bill was not disclosed in that original estimate. Had they disclosed like the other companies, we would have chosen another company to perform the work. ****** proceeded to interrupt me in our conversation stating the second bill was for a required follow-up inspection. When I attempted to speak, he abruptly advised pay the bill or see you in court and hung up. Not only is this unprofessional but dishonest in their approach to securing work. A quote for work is expected to disclose All items & an estimate of charges that would be part of that service. A company should not secure work based on partial charges and then once contracted send a bill for additional services that they Knew would be a part of the overall service. This is not forthcoming, or transparent.Customer response

- Renewed Annual Maintenance 8/11/2022 after multiple attempts over two weeks to renew over phone with companies book keeper due to inability to connect based on schedules. - Previous annual service performed summer of 2021 - Called September of 2022 to inquire about 2022 inspection and maintenance. Was told essentially personnel issue and "will add this to the pile".- Called 1/25/2023 to again inquire about inspection and service paid for 5 months earlier and to report that pump was making noise. Transferred to discuss. Received same info about personnel issue and was told if no alarm - no issue regardless of pump noise. I disagreed and was again told no issue despite equipment concern. I then requested refund of annual fee and Mathews Soil immediately hung up on me!- Called back and no answer went to voice mail. **** up and called back and when answered by same person all that was said was, "you'll get your refund when I get around to it!" and they hung up on me again. Called back to discuss and no answer.- Called on 2/1/2023 to inquire about refund and was told book keeper only works on Tuesday and Thursday.- Called multiple times throughout the morning on 2/2/2023 to speak with book keeper and no answer from the main company number. so can assume they may not be answering due to caller ID and do not want to speak with "*****************".Regardless - other than complete lack of professionalism and hanging up on a customer multiple times, all I am attempting to resolve is a confirmationon refund as the company no longer is taking my call or engaging in conversation.Business response

Land evaluated February 22 Report sent to me April 27 Invoiced me April 29 I paid them April 30 He "estimated" distances which, when I remeasured were WAY off and impact how we can use the land. I have REPEATEDLY emailed and called and even talked to Mr. ********************** about getting an updated plat based on new info from my neighbor on his well and septic and on the erroneous "estimates" that he put in the plat.Basically I have paid $887 for NOTHING! I cannot get a return call or email and certainly not an updated plat. Totally unprofessional and what he gave me is USELESS! I cannot get a septic or well guy out here with the erroneous plat. I need him to actually measure and not guess and to put in the updated info I have repeatedly provided him. He says I cannot move my septic lines but that is NOT CORRECT based on REAL measurements!Business response

Measurements were made in the field to the best of our ability with the information we had to work with. We have updated the report as requested and issued an additional report at the request of the client. All invoices have been paid and the final reports that were sent appear to be satisfactory to the client.
We consider this complaint to be addressed.
