On October 10, October 30, and November 13, 2014, BBB attempted to contact Behavioral Health and Wellness Center, LLC regarding personally-identifiable information, including Social Security numbers, birth dates, and similar sensitive data, being collected via an unsecured page on its website. BBB also noted that the website lacked a policy disclosing how such information is used and safeguarded.

Standard 7 of the BBB Code of Business Practices requires businesses that collect sensitive data online (such as credit card, bank account numbers, Social Security number, salary, or other personal financial information, medical history or records, etc.) to safeguard privacy by ensuring that it is transmitted via secure means. Businesses are expected to make best efforts to comply with industry standards for the protection and proper disposal of all sensitive data, both online and offline. When personally-identifiable information is collected online, businesses are also expected to disclose what information they collect, with whom it is shared, how it can be corrected, how it is secured, how policy changes will be communicated, and how to address concerns over misuse of personal data.

BBB must report that Behavioral Health and Wellness Center, LLC did not respond to three requests to voluntarily safeguard personally-identifiable information and address privacy concerns based on the BBB Code of Business Practices.  The BBB Code of Business Practices represents sound advertising, selling and customer service practices that enhance customer trust and confidence in business. The Code is built on the BBB Standards for Trust, eight principles that summarize important elements of creating and maintaining trust in business.
