Hired to move bedroom set 15 miles. Broke the bed...scratched the armoire and the framing in doorways. Sent a repairman who scratched worse trying to glue wood together. Which if ever moved again will break again. He was a nice man but in poor health and never came back to finish. I've talked to ****** numerous times. He supposedly searched for another repair person..but couldn't find one. Never called back..I tried for a week to get him..leaving messages and text. Called him from a different phone number he picked right up. He promised he would mail a refund check for the price of the move but couldn't do anything about the furniture. Though not happy that my 10k bedroom suite is messed up..but agreed. That was on 12/7. He said would mail check 12/9 should have by Tuesday. Of course its 12/16...no check..no return call from messages left wednesday...Thursday..or today 12/16. Rip off..unprofessional staff

Transaction with: **** ** *******, Transaction Date: 10-62022, Posting Date: 10-7-2022, Reference *****, Account Ending #****, Amount: $500, Collegiate movers required a $500 deposit to secure a moving date on 10-17-2022. The dispute: On October 7th 2022, while moving belongings into *** ********* **** ******* *** *****  my wife ******** ***** **** suffered a fall resulting in brain damage and was flown to ******* ******** Hospital by helicopter where she was admitted to ICU. ******* ******** Hospital moved her to ******** ********* Hospital on 10-21-2022 for in house physical, occupational, and speech therapy. She is still a patient in ********* as of 11-8-2022. After her admission to *** I called Collegiate Movers on 10-10-2022 and canceled the move for 10-17-22 explaining the reason for the cancellation was due to a brain injury suffered by my wife in the accident and we had lost the house to another buyer. I called Collegiate movers on 10-29-2022 and talked to an employee named ****** about refunding my $500 deposit. He said that it was non refundable but that he would look into it. He instructed me to call him back on 10-31-2022 which I did. However no one answered so I left a message. No one returned my call. I called back on 11-2-22 and talked to an employee named **** and explained my inquiry. He said he would check and he would call me back. Today is the 11-8-2022 and no one has called me back. I talked with ****** ** ******* ** *** on 11-3-2022 and she said I had reasons for filing a complaint. Collegiate movers has thus far ignored my request for them to credit my *** ********** ending in **** and I believe have no intentions of returning my money. I am 81 and my wife is 79 and I am confident they are trying to take advantage of the situation. We are on fixed income with a small amount of savings and $500 is a lot of money for us to lose. I would appreciate any assistance BBB can provide to my wife and I in getting Collegiate movers to return the $500

Hired the company to perform a move from one apartment to another. In moving a 70" big screen TV the screen was scratched significantly. The day of the move I spoke to the owner and even a supervisor that came to the site to observe the scratches. He indicated that there was something on the padding and/or blanket that was used to protect the TV. He stated that the company would take care of the damages, however the owner stated he would reach out to me about the issue on 2/21. I've not heard from anyone as of 2/24 after repeated attempts to resolve the issue. The owner stated that the TV needed to be "boxed" in order for it to be moved. The mover did not state this before moving the TV and moved it onto the truck and into the new location.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The quote was handled via text message (have the copy) there is no mention of "boxing" the TV. The run around that the mover picked up the 70" TV alone, moved it to the truck and to the new location shows an implied acceptance of responsibility. I spoke to the owner on 2/19 and was told he'd get back to me on 2/21. I never heard from him since the 19th. He sent one of the reps out on the move date during the time the movers were still there and stated that the company would "take care of it". I received a call on 3/14 requesting I call back. I did so and left a voicemail. I do believe this to extend into litigation of small claims at this point. Simple as it is, my TV was not damaged until the movers moved it. The damage resulted in their negligence of properly padding the item on the truck. The rep that came on site to my residence even indicated that there was something on the padding used on the TV.    Regards, ******* *****
