I went to Kartesz Family Eye Care in Rocky Mount VA for the first time last year. Only had a yearly exam so no complaints. The problem came this year. They sent me a reminder that I was due for another eye exam. I made my appointment, had my exam and ordered my new contacts. Only after all of that they tell me that it hasn't been 12 months since my last visit so I have to pay for 100% of my exam and contacts. This cost me hundreds of dollars. They admitted that they screwed up and didn't check my insurance status prior to my visit, but said there was nothing they could do (like maybe waive the cost of the eye exam which would be perfectly in their power to do). When asking them about this all I got was attitude. This is the worst optometrist office I have ever visited and will never go back. Messing up like that and costing a patient hundreds of dollars is bad enough, not giving a crap about it is even worse and that is exactly what I got from this office. They could care less and were just rude when I questioned them about this. Lesson learned. I really hope at least a few potential new patients see this and find somewhere else to go. When people complain about how they were treated, etc. that can be subjective but money out of your pocket is not subjective. Stay away from this office!!
