Asked sales person about price discrepancy between book value & list. Their explanation was that comparing with similar vehicles from other dealerships in a roughly 50 mile radius which had recently sold. For simplicity sake let's say $ 7k. This was $ 700 over the retail list for a vehicle in excellent condition. [This vehicle is average]. Vehicle also "included" LoJack along with a subscription to the service. Not mentioned was the cost [$ 1198] for these items & that state law prohibits a requirement to purchase them on used vehicles. I asked them to remove hardware & subscription; they refused then had the audacity to say that the price would be the same with our without this anti-theft feature. Without it, the vehicle price would have been approximately $200 over book perfectly reasonable. However, there is also an unavoidable $799 processing fee. The radio has static "included". Front floor mats are missing & key fobs were both defective. Battery replacement fixed one of them. The other has to be reprogrammed at a cost of $50 & still doesn't have all the features [rear hatch won't respond]. The oil pressure sensor gauge is either bad or about to go out so this was either missed, ignored or fried within one task of gas from purchase. The mpg is abysmal [18 blended]. Also "included" was a vehicle service contract which was presented as gratis for my piece of mind and the idea being the bundled service is less expensive - oil change, tire rotation, air filter replacements. While it's a used vehicle, you don't expect so many annoying items to be left out or not working (like the oil pressure sensor) when it just passed state inspection. So in summary there's an extra $ 2k that, according to everyone that has a say, are unavoidable (processing fee $799) and irreversible - even though LoJack says this is not the case & "up to the dealer". Slick, deceptive trade practices. Engage in a transaction with them if you enjoy losing @ 3 card Monty.

After researching Mr.  **** concern, we cannot find any basis that would validate his concern. He paid exactly what we advertised the car for, not one cent more. The items he is questioning are included in the advertised price $6,820 on this particular car, as added value. While we do itemize them on the Buyers Order to show the value of the items included in the advertised price, we do not ask extra for them. The price on line 1 of the Buyers Order is 100% the price we had this unit advertised for.  We do include these items on our Used vehicles as Added Value and one of the many reasons to buy from us. The great news is that they are included in our advertised price... not charged extra for in any way.  After reviewing this purchase, Mr.  **** is not due a refund. He paid our advertised price for this vehicle and we activated and provided the added value at no additional cost to the advertised price.  Thank you for your time and assistance on this.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Regards, ****** **** If the business were not compensated by LoJack for both the installation of hardware and the subscription, then ;this would make some sense.  However, I contacted LoJack directly.  They advised that they can not cancel the subscription, nor request that the dealer remove the equipment because they compensate them directly for such and the dealer is classified as a reseller of such.  In addition, I asked the dealer to remove the hardware and cancel the subscription.  They flatly refused to do either, even though I didn't want them.  They say that it's value added, but all it is - is a way to obfuscate or obscure the act that they are installing this on every used vehicle they sell and according to their own employee, have been doing so for over a year.  So, short of a specific disclosure that says: "if you don't want LoJack, then ;you can't do business with Ride Today, they are in violation of the law which prohibits the mandatory sale of this item on used vehicles in the state of Virginia.  If they were giving away the equipment and the service, there would be no attempt to hide it, rather they would crow about it.The vehicle was over market price and their answer to this question was intentionally misleading.  I think the reason that they couldn't deliver the vehicle the same day as it was purchased, was due to the LoJack install and not additional detailing. In order to be in compliance, they would have to ask each customer if they wanted the equipment when they decide to resell it to the public versus sending it to auction. It's not a good feeling to be lied to and have your concerns shoved aside in the name of "this is just how we do business" - the remedy is simple, though it may cost them some money, it should be removed from the vehicle, the subscription cancelled and the amount backed out of the total amount financed.  The flippant reply of, :if you don't want the service, don't activate it" is infuriating and all the other explanations are simply insulting.Quit lying.  $1200 is worth much more to a single father than it is to a dealership with deep pockets.  I'd bet on it; in fact I'm counting on it.

What Mr. **** keeps missing is that he did not pay one cent more for these items. If we did not include these added value items at no additional charge, like we do, the price we would have asked for the vehicle he purchased would have been the exact same. Please allow me to say this one more time... with our without the Lojack, Traceable Theft and Nitrogen filled tires... we would have sold this vehicle for the same exact price. Even though these items are worth a retail value of $1,198... we did not ask him to pay additional for this, we included these at NO ADDITIONAL COST in the price we advertised this vehicle for sale. Please find below the response that we also sent to the Virginia Motor Vehicle Dealer Board as well as the Virginia Attorney General: Re: ****** *** ****** ****Dear Ms. *****,Thank you for forwarding the complaint from ****** ****. We are quite familiar with Mr. **** since he has also filed complaints with the BBB of Western Virginia and the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board of our great Commonwealth, which closed his file immediately after receiving the information below. After researching Mr. **** concern, we cannot find any basis that would validate his concern. He paid exactly what we advertised the car for, not one cent more. The items he is questioning are included in the advertised price of $6,820 on this particular car, as added value. While we do itemize them on the Buyers Order to show the value of the items included in the advertised price, we do not ask extra for them, not one penny over the advertised price. The price on line 1 of the Buyers Order is 100% the price we had this unit advertised for and the price he agreed to purchase this unit for after over a week of deliberation. This was not a quick purchase process for Mr. ****. He had time to consider everything before he finally bought this vehicle. Please find a copy of the Buyers Order where we had the unit posted online for $6,820 plus TT&L and Processing Fee. We do include these items on our Used vehicles as Added Value and one of the many reasons to buy from us. The great news is that they are included in our advertised price... not charged extra for in any way. After reviewing this purchase in detail, Mr. **** is not due a refund. He paid our advertised price for this vehicle and we activated and provided the added value at no additional cost to the advertised price. The attachment below came from Mr. **** filing with the MVDB and it clearly shows that he paid our advertised price of $6,820 for this vehicle. Thank you for your time and assistance on this.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. This was an out -of- state sale.  I relied (made my decision to purchase)  on what was advertised period. They falsely advertised items that the Jeep didn't have likeback up camera and soft top. No one can get around that by dropping the "as is" clause. It wasn't until I paid in full and the Jeep was delivered to my house before I discovered it wasn't as they posted.Lastly, the right turn single is defective and will not stay up until one turns it drops back down after three blinks (never should have passed inspection) notwithstanding the door lock and key/fob.In closing,  I got a call late yesterday from the manager Mr. **** *******, whom said that they are going to refund all of my money and pick up the car. Can you keep this active until this situation is concluded.?  Regards, **** ****
