Do NOT take your car here. I have been taking my car to them for 10 yrs. I think about 3ish yrs ago the original owner sold it. I had my car in for trip check & inspection. I was told my calipers were bad. $***. I decided not to get it fixed and took it somewhere else. When I went to 17th to pick my car up the front desk lady told me l was playing Russian roulette with my life by driving the car. Kept telling me how dangerous. Was very sarcastic, made me sign a paper stating the car was unsafe. I took it to another shop and had full inspection. NOTHING was wrong. NO repairs needed and passed inspection. The red head at the front desk was so nasty to me and that is why I decided to get it checked out somewhere else. She tried to scare me.

Dear Ms. Nickie ****, First and foremost, I want to extend our sincerest apologies for any discomfort or inconvenience you experienced during your recent visit to 17th Street Automotive. Hearing your feedback, particularly from a valued customer who has been with us for over a decade, is both important and concerning to us. Customer Concern: "There's a plastic odor coming from under hood and it seems like the transmission isn't shifting properly" (WE DID NOT CHARGE YOU ANYTHING FOR THE SERVICE) Regarding the situation with your vehicle's calipers and the subsequent communication you received, I want to take this opportunity to clarify our intent and practices, as well as address your experience: **Safety Concerns with Locking Calipers**: When we diagnose issues like a locking brake caliper, it's because such conditions can significantly affect your vehicle's braking performance, potentially leading to dangerous situations on the road. Our primary goal in these instances is to ensure your safety and that of others. An "intermittent" locking caliper can cause uneven braking, increased wear on brake components, and, in extreme cases, brake failure, difficult to diagnose specially if it occurs intermittently. This is why we felt compelled to communicate the urgency and safety implications. **Communication and Customer Experience**: It's clear from your feedback that the manner in which our concerns were conveyed did not meet the standards of professionalism and empathy we aim for. We deeply regret any feelings of distress or sarcasm perceived during our interactions. It's crucial for us to not only provide accurate and honest vehicle assessments but to do so in a way that respects and appreciates our customers' circumstances and decisions. We have set in place customer satisfaction surveys to hold our front office accountable. **The Signing of the Invoice**: The document you were asked to sign was intended as a formal acknowledgment of the diagnosis provided and the potential safety implications of not addressing the identified issue. This practice is meant to ensure clear communication and protect all parties involved by documenting the state of the vehicle as assessed at that time. **Moving Forward**: While it's relieving to hear that your vehicle was found to be in safe working order elsewhere, we are concerned about the discrepancy in diagnoses and will be looking into our procedures and training to prevent such situations in the future. Your trust and safety are paramount to us, and we are committed to making this right. If the passenger side brake caliper is intermittently sticking, the plastic burning smell concern is still NOT fixed and we're afraid that it will replicate itself again in the future, when, where or how... we unfortunately cannot predict. I personally went over the vehicle history and we did miss your last visit history, we will warranty your brakes pads and rotors.. and work with you with the passenger front brake caliper replacement, we understand it did not seize on your other shop visit but the burning smell is still not fixed and we're afraid the issue will reoccur in the future. We truly value your long-standing relationship with 17th Street Automotive and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this matter further with you personally. Our goal is to restore your confidence in our services and address any additional concerns you may have. Please feel free to reach out to me directly. We are here to listen and improve, and we hope to have the chance to serve you better in the future. Warm regards, Billy ******* (13 year employee who inherited the business) Owner ************

Took my car this place in February for front brakes, tires, alignment, & oil change. Upon getting my car back, I noticed the wiper fluid was empty, even though it should have been filled during the oil change. I called &informed them, but I couldn't bring the car back immediately. I also got sick and couldn't drive for over a week. When I finally drove my car, it was idling hard & running loudly, which was unusual. I took it back to here, and Billy, the owner I spoke with, seemed clueless about the issue. He suggested leaving my car there for three days to check its behavior, but I didn't agree. Instead, he recommended I drive it for a couple of days since it had sat for a week.As the issue persisted & no dashboard lights were on, I took my car to *** for a diagnostic. To my shock, they informed me that my oil had never been changed, I even have a video to prove it. I went back to 21st Automotive to address them, but Billy wasn't there. The staff's(Christin's) response was disappointing, and she's going to turn her nose up at me and say, Well, did you bring the car back so we can verify that an oil change wasn't done.I ended up paying *** **** for the diagnostic, and I'll never let 21st Automotive touch my car again. They should have checked the oil when I returned, but instead, they assumed it had been changed. To make matters worse, they didn't refill the washer fluid or place an oil change sticker in the window, which I had to request. This was not my first time at 21st Automotive. I had a better experience in July 2022 when they did my rear brakes, oil change, and inspection. However, I now question if they actually changed my oil then. I am not posting this review to get over on them, but rather to express my frustration and disappointment. I love my car, but I'm considering getting a new one due to the way it runs now. I will never return to 21st Automotive, and they can expect a lawsuit. It's time to hold people accountable for providing subpar service.

I was not here when you came into the shop looking for resolution to your issues, when I came the next day I called you and left a voicemail 2x, we are a small business and tend to pride ourselves in customer service, I myself came and drove with you together, we never duplicated the issue that you were having, your check engine light was OFF, and there was no DTC's (codes in the system) I explained to further drive it because it was sitting for a week, you never did come back, you took it to BMW for a diagnostic and have not provided us with an invoice on what they found out???? If we somehow messed your car up doing an oil change, we take full accountability, but when you continue to say that we didn't do the oil change and forgot to top off the washer fluid, how can we correct it if you don't want to give us an opportunity to correct it? Both our inspection reports are below on what we found initially, it serves us no purpose on not doing your oil change or topping off your washer (we are human), all the services you asked we've done, we rode with your BMW two times and it did not duplicate your issues, we asked you to leave it with us so we can drive it further (you did not want to do that), if we can't duplicate the issue, how can we fix it? I did reach out to you and left you a voicemail, two times to resolve your situation or at least refund your money back. It pains me that we did try to help, and we were patient, I'm responsible for my employees accountability, if something was not done, I am on top of it to correct the issues. As I said before, whatever it needs to be done to alleviate your concerns, I am all for it. you want your money back? I am more than willing to do that to make you happy. Call us 757-425***** if you do not want to do that, you never gave me an opportunity to correct whatever was bothering you because we did an oil change that all of a sudden you car was running crappy... when there's no evidence that we messed your vehicle up??
