I applied for a rental with my partner, and our applications were accepted and granted for the desired rental. In order for the rental agency in question to reserve the desired rental, a deposit was required. $1025.00 was put down as a deposit on 8/23/21. This deposit was taken through a debit card transaction at the leasing office, but with no documentation as to what the deposit would entail. There lacked any verbiage of the nature of this deposit, so consequently, no document relating to the nature of the deposit was signed. My partner and I inquired a return of the deposit, and was not granted the $1,025.00. The complaint here is that there was no agreement to the deposit being non-refundable, not only through vocal proclamation, but also without any form of signed documentation. The rental application was the only form signed by my partner and myself. It is clear that there is no mention of deposits. This entails no agreement to a non-refundable deposit.
