I hired Richers Home Improvement to replace **************** renovate my **************** my kitchen floor.The work was completed and billed in two separate estimates.The first was $19,037 on estimate #****** & work began on 9/28/2022.The doors, windows, and bathroom renovation were done.The second was $4,400 on estimate #****** & work began on 11/4/2022.The tile in the kitchen floor is moving, lifting, & the grout cracking & falling out.The job was completed on 11/10/2022.I notified them of the issues on 11/11/2022 when I made payment in full & they agreed the job was not completed to satisfaction & offered to return to remedy it.They returned to do repairs on 11/14/2022.They gave several reasons why the movement, lifting, & cracking happened.They said the issues were due to the tiles not drying completely before the grout was laid, the grout additive freezing before they used it, the direction of the tile & uneven floor.They completed repairs & immediately after the cure time I experienced the same issues.I contacted them on 11/28/2022 to ask for a remedy.They stated they would need to put blocking underneath the kitchen floor, between the joists, to keep the floor from moving.This remedy, along with the other reasons they provided, did not seem accurate.I did research & spoke with professionals on tile installation.I concluded that the tiles were laid in the incorrect direction, the floor was not properly prepared as they laid tile directly on plywood, & the subfloor was not leveled.The contractors responded on 12/8/2022 to provide availability for repair but because I was not comfortable with the suggested remedy & all the other issues from the previous job, poor craftsmanship & lack of attention to detail, I requested a refund of $4,400.They will not issue a full refund & have not issued a partial refund as promised multiple times.I am not only out the monies paid for the work but also for the tiles I purchased separately that cannot be reused.
