My partner and I purchased the listed property in August 2021. During our first week of ownership, we were informed that the previous owner had been told that the oil tank needed replacing for the home and that Northern Coal and Oil were the previous vendors delivering oil to the property. I personally called the company, speaking with the gentleman named "Smithy" and discussed the need for a new tank. It was agreed that the remaining oil in the tank needed to be used up before replacement so we would wait until Thanksgiving 2021 until any other delivery of oil would be made to ensure a easier job could be done. A week later, Northern Coal and Oil delivered $480 worth of oil without permission and billed us for it. After complaint, Northern Coal and Oil did not apologize but, assured us that they would be able to still switch the tanks and move the job up to October 2021. This time came, two Northern Coal and Oil employees arrived to complete the work. The work was completed with many hiccups and damage caused to our home:1.The employees decided to remove two basement steps without permission and destroyed one in the process. This caused my partner to trip and fall upon returning to the home. She will be seeking a referral from a medical professional about the injury sustained. The step was replaced after complaint with no apology.2.A 2x4 of my own personal wood was destroyed, I assume, to use as leverage to remove the old tank. This was used without permission. 3.Multiple basement steps, joists and wall siding panels have gauges too deep to sand out. They will be replaced. 4.The inside main door to the home has scratches and gauges after I observed contact with the old oil tank as it was being replaced. This door will need to be replaced. 5.The grass outside our front door was damaged and replaced by the old oil tank being pushed down the porch steps and onto the floor. I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint. I have also not received response to the two certified letters sent to the business also. We are proactively trying to communicate with the business but, with no joy. It is our full intention to resolve the matter, but is in a way that is fair and just given the damage to our home after the workers were here.
we appreciate the support of the BBB during this time.
sincerely,
