The patio awning was installed on 5/19 on the only rainy day in some 10 days. I paid $5,315 (!), with half of it last November. The next day was sunny and I noticed the awning was not level, sloping on one side. The installers did the job in some 30 minutes and did not use a level, as called for in the instructions. Worse, its angle was left as set in the factory, so it only keeps the sun out for about 2 hours. I asked the installer to return and set the angle as needed. He asked for ANOTHER $250 to do that. He insisted I can do it myself, but I don't have the tool nor the ability or strength to do it. I asked that he refund $250 so I can pay someone else to do it but he refused. I feel that I'm being taken advantage of in the worst way because I'm a woman and of a certain age.Business response

This client received their awning and it was installed perfectly. They provided a deposit in the fall to secure last years pricing. The fabric selection wasnt made until this spring. They were well aware of the location that we were plugging the power in. They were very happy with the install minus the white power cord location. We explained that the motor cords are all white and that no electrical work was included in the proposal nor do we do electrical work. We are not licensed for that type of work. The client was clearly looking for some money back. Against my better judgement I refunded $250. This was the total sum of labor that was included in this price.
the fact that it took 45 minutes to install is based on our years of experience. We do not charge an hourly rate. When installing a awning to the soffit of a home we have no reason to use a level. If a home isnt level, we have no means of adjusting that.
The client called 3 of our reference before hiring us. We have never had any complaints. I feel that there is no possible way to satisfy this client. I offered to return for $250. This is the total sum of labor that I had given to them. This is a fair compromise.
keep in mind that once we refunded the $250 at the time of install both ****** and her husband were happy.
in afraid that this will happen to other contractors providing service for ******. IT was clear that this wasnt the first time she tried to take advantage of a small business.
