I engaged this company July 2023 to complete electrical work on a kitchen renovation. I was told at that time the work would be completed the second week of July. Between then and November 28, they have made 2-3 visits. Each time I was told they would complete the job and each time the worker would tell me on arrival they could do one thing and then had other jobs to go to. After several conversations, they agreed to come on November 29 to complete a list of work agreed to for a contract price. On November 28 they called to say they were cancelling and that I owed them $1,800 and they would not reschedule until I paid them. I owe them no money and have paid them over $3,500 for work that they have either not completed or have done so poorly the work has failed and must be redone. The money they say I owe is the contract we agreed on for the work that hasn't been done. Throughout my interactions with them, I have had to be diligent about what I am being charged as they have tried to over charge me for materials. For example, they billed me for 14 circuits when they only installed 9. I have the invoices I have been sent and my payments. I feel I am now being shaken down for the correction and completion of work, some of which I have already paid for and would have to pay for again if I was to hire another electrician. I have invoices and checks from my bank showing payment, but they are not in a format that can be downloaded at this time. They can be made available, however.

I am sorry you felt the need to make this complaint ***** especially since we did everything you requested and went above and beyond to figure this project out for you. Fortunately, we have documented our correspondence with you breaking down your charges since day one which included all the EXTRAS that YOU asked us to complete for you outside of the original contract. We also documented your response back to us continuously complaining about the valid charges and somehow still not understanding them. On multiple occasions, we walked you through your charges and made sure you okayed them all. You always did...that is until the invoice was sent to you and then you complained. We did everything we could to make this project right for you even giving you credits in labor when you did complain because we wanted to keep you happy and help you out the same way we would any of our customers. This is a very unfair complaint from you as we did everything we could to help you and give you the benefit of the doubt when you complained about every single charge mistakenly believing you know the rates of materials better than we do. We assumed you were confused at the breakdown and had multiple conversations with you in person, on the phone and in email explaining the charges for the extras which you asked us for. I have attached your response to our breakdown as well. Clearly telling us you are still confused. This complaint is very unjust as your confusion, at this point, given that we have attempted to help you understand that when you ask for work outside of the agreed upon contract- it also needs to be paid for- in addition to the contract. We have done everything to help you understand this. We made it clear we had every intention to return to complete the project but of course we cannot do that unless you settle your outstanding balance as agreed upon.

As for the breaker complaint, I apologized to you profusely for my oversight. It was an honest mistake. When we make a mistake, we own it and we always make it right.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

      [Dear Madam/Sir,

I do not accept the response by the business to my complaint #********.  I have attached all email correspondence and attachments.  I have also included copies of the checks showing payment.

It appears this business charged me for time and materials and then tried to charge me for a contract on top of it.  They made three visits to my home, reflected in the two invoices I was sent and that have been paid.  Both invoices had to be revised because of overcharging of materials and time. Im not sure I was refunded an adequate amount in either case because of the lack of detail in the invoices.  But I have paid them.  I then agreed to a final price to complete the work, including work already paid for on the original invoice that was not completed or not done correctly.

During my association with them, they sent workers out to complete my job on three occasions.  Workers would arrive and tell me they could only put in a light switch or move an outlet because they had other jobs to do.  When I was sent the last invoice, they indicated they had completed all the work.  When I informed the office they hadnt, Mr.Provost came to my house to see what had not been completed.  It was at that time we began negotiating for the final work and I requested a contract instead of being billed for time and materials.  To date I had paid them for time materials of about $3,500 with little work completed.  The day before the final work was to be done, the company called me to cancel my scheduled appointment and tell me that they would not reschedule unless I paid them $1,800 for outstanding charges.  You can see that even that amount changed with the final attachments.  The invoices show duplicate charges for work, no itemization, and no transparency.

I have engaged someone else to finish the work and restore the failed outlets.  I am having to pay them for work I already paid Provost Electric.

Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions.  I don't seem to be able to attach all the documents referenced in the emails, but it looks like the are clickable links.  Please contact me if you want me to send them separately.  There are more than 14.

Again, there has been a clear misunderstanding on ***** Claytors behalf. We have walked her through her invoices, made corrections when we were in the wrong and even credited her back labor only because of her complaints. We completed our initial proposed work which included installing owner provided devices throughout her kitchen and kitchen island. After this was done, ***** had a backsplash made of tile installed which then caused the outlets to need to be relocated so they could be of use and we were willing to do this at no cost to her even though relocating them was not in our initial agreement, or any agreement thereafter. This is the work she is referring to when she says it is not complete...However it was all very much completed before she decided to add a backsplash after the fact. We have done everything to reconcile and help ***** understand her charges for the extras which ***** asked us to complete and ***** has given us every indication that she understands her charges and open invoices and she agreed to them prior to being completed. She has found another contractor to relocate those outlets and any other extras she deems necessary and I sincerely hope she pays that contractor. We were willing to walk away from the balance she owes us because we could clearly see the lack of understanding with our last phone conversation and most recent emails and we could clearly see that there was no satisfying this person. Because of this we will now peruse legal action as it is clear ***** just does not like us and wishes to drag our good name through the mud for no good reason.

      FAQ

There are a number of falsehoods in this business's response.  I have the final proposal for work to complete and the fact that they canceled the scheduled appointment and refused to reschedule.  By their own documentation, they did not complete the work.  I also have witnesses completing the work they said they did.  They are now resorting to threats and I have hired a lawyer.

      Regards,

      *******
