I am dissatisfied with National Life Group because they refused to underwrite a life insurance policy for me for the following reasons "information in application-height/weight and medical history in application-psychiatric disorders controlled multiple medications". I am baffled at the fact that this insurance company listed my mental health as a reason for not providing a favorable decision regarding my application. Persons with mental health disorders should be offered the same amount of opportunities as those without them. I strongly feel that I have been discriminated against. I am of no risk of harm to myself and my mental health is properly managed by the "controlled medication" that they referenced. In fact, the medications that I am on are not considered a controlled medication. I am extremely disappointed in this company and find that these types of issues are why mental health conditions/disorders are still highly stigmatized.National Life Group Response

Disgusting company. My identity confidentially was comprised three times and I didn't even get an apology from the company. I didn't know my husband was approved and this company was taking money out my account after I closed my original account because they gave my information away to another person. I filed all the evidence and they still refused to give me back my money. These people are thieves. Now I have to worry about people stealing my identity because of them.Review from alan g

Horrible Company. They have gone from paying a paltry dividend to none at all, but neglected to tell me. I asked in 2022 why. I asked in 2023 why. Only now, in ****, do they tell me that the board of directors elected to eliminate dividends on the block of business written before ****. Which is mine. I could have surrendered my policy, taken the cash and invested it in a market that has been up double digit if they had told me that it would earn ZERO dividend. EVER. I also tried calling, but could get nothing but a phone tree that gives me automated account info. NO ONE ever returned a call or a message or picked up a line. STAY AWAY from this company.Finally, the most galling thing: When you go to their web site it says "For 175 years we've worked hard to deliver on our promises to millions, providing peace of mind in times of need." I guess eliminating any chance of a dividend doesn't count as keeping a promise, even though when they sell you these whole life policies, they show this illustration where the dividends eventually pay the premiums.National Life Group Response

I have called several time s in the past. Emailed an inquiry as well. I am unable to get the information needed.NLG has annuities. The annuity I purchased has 8 indexes to choose from. Before I purchased, I was able to review past data. Each year we are able to adjust what funds we wish to have my money for the following year. I been trying to get this information for 14 days. No reply from Email and able to get to a license broker.I have asked for the address to the legal department. They refuse to give me this information so that I am able to send a certify letter showing that i tried to resolve this matter. I am hoping this company will be more transparent and able to do what is best for the customer.National Life Group Response

I AM SO DISAPPOINTED THAT I CANNOT SPEAK TO AN ******** AGENT!!! WHAT HAS THIS COMPANY DONE TO OUTSOURCE TO THE ***********. THEY ARE NO HELP WHAT SO EVER. THEY MIGHT BE OK FOR THEIR COUNTRY, NOT HERE.I AM SERIOUSLY THINKING OF TAKING MY $$$ OUT OF THIS GROUP AND LOOK FOR A COMPANY THAT I CAN SPEAK TO ********* ONLY.PLEASE NATIONAL LIFE, WAKE UP. Do not throw your money to the garbage with them. They will basically take half for fees for any reason from all the money that you will put it. they claim you will get money after you pay for years and years for which you will still only receive half of what you put plus one and a half percent interest for 3 months of the year. All that and more will be consumed by fees. You are better to just put the money on an invesment account on the S&P 500 and forget about it. You will have a way better of return and they will not steal your money. The information on their statements is bogus, called the number it is just a 3rd party brokerage firm. Good luck calling their phone line, you will wait a little over an hour. With these companies is very fast to take your money and takes forever to give it back for whatever is left.National Life Group Response

NLG's agent completely misrepresented their Flex Life product to both my wife and I. She claimed we would only have to make payments for a given period of time (***** years) and then it would be ours without more payments which, after years of payments, turned out not to be true whatsoever and we would potentially have to pay on this policy for the rest of our life. The agent also claimed we would be able to draw an income on it if we decided down the road, which is not possible if one is expecting a proper death benefit at the same time. The agent also did not disclose the high amount of fees on the policy, even when asked specifically about this. Further, they talk up the cash value of the account, which is a pitiful amount due to the "cap to cap" accounting method they use and high fees. You are better off just tossing all your cash in a Vanguard account or similar and calling it a day.After literally months of getting runaround of trying to understand the actual policy between our agents lies and inability to speak basic facts, we were able to at least get our surrender value amounts back without much issue. However, despite giving NLG ample proof of our agents misrepresentation of the policy, they refused to assist in recovering any more of our funds and we have lost roughly $13,000 due to this completely deceitful behavior. At no point was I even issued an apology for any of the confusion anyone caused and everyone involved tried to pretend as if things were clear as day, when they never were ( classic gas lighting tactics here). This company is dishonest and allows their agents to do whatever they want without recourse. I have never been so offended or ripped off in my entire life as literally thousands of dollars went to waste on a policy that had nothing to do with what I was told it was about and was something I simply didn't need at all. Just look at all the negative reviews on this website. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.National Life Group Response
