      On May 3, 2022 I ordered a closet storage system from Lake Champlain Closets in **********. The price of the project came to *******, which included materials, shipping, rip out of old unit and installing the new unit. After reviewing multiple other designs online, I decided that this design layout was not going to work well for me. I have notified them that I would like to cancel the order and asked for a refund. Unfortunately since the items were custom to my closet dimensions and have shipped, she is unable to cancel the order. I completely understand that she has had to pay for the materials and I am willing to pay for the cost of the materials. My deposit was for *******, leaving a ****** balance. She is threatening me with paying the additional amount, even though the product has not been delivered or installed. I have asked several times for her to send me a copy of the invoice from the company showing the actual cost of the materials. If the materials cost more than ******* I will pay her the difference, but if the cost is less, than I would like a refund for the difference. She is not complying with sending me a copy of the invoice, but threatening me to pay the balance on services that were not performed. I am not paying for installation on a product that was not installed, nor do I have possession of the materials. Her failure to be transparent with the copy of the company invoice leads me to believe that the materials most likely were less than what I paid.

      I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint.

      I have not heard from the business, other than one threatening email stating she was going to file suit for defamation of character.  I assume that is because she didn't like the fact that I filed a complaint. 

       

      At this time she has my deposit and my materials. 

      1. Since the materials were custom to my closet, she claims the deposit is not refundable, although there is nothing on my receipt that states deposits are non-refundable. 

      2. I understand if she can't return them, but if I have paid for them I would like to take possession of the materials I have paid for. 

      3. She can't keep my deposit and REFUSE to let me pick up the materials that I have paid for.

      4.   So, I would either like her to refund the entire deposit and keep the materials or refund any difference between the cost of the materials and the amount of the deposit (as I am quite certain that the materials did not cost *******) and allow me to pick them up

      5.  I have reached out to my attorney at this time.

       

      She will not refund the deposit, nor allow me to pick them up.  Also, I am quite certain that the materials cost less than the deposit given to her and she is not willing to refund any difference between the cost of the materials and the amount of the deposit, yet threatened to **** me for additional money owed.
