In December of 2022 we had the transmission in our 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan replaced, second time in 2 years. The transmission was under warranty but, apparently the warranty didn't cover all of the fluids needed. The difference was about $70, I believe. The shop replaced another part, without prior approval. The bill was over $700. The transmission has failed again, 4 months after being "replaced". While the van was being worked on, the adjustable driver seat was broken. I was told the mechanic thought it was damaged before being brought in for the current issue. No offer to pay for or repair the seat was made at all. The van also has had problems not starting, that could possibly be related. I believe this because the engine moved when engaging into reverse from park.Business response

In response to this complaint, if the transmission is having problems again, he could call and have it checked, or rechecked at any shop that deals with ******* since it is one of their units and has a rather extensive nationwide warranty. At the time of pickup the customer was aware of his damaged seat, was aware of it previously, and was not concerned with it. We explained his issue with the starting due to the map light staying on and draining the battery. Any repairs performed to correct the starting or transmission issues would be under warranty if the customer chose to bring it up with us. We have not heard from them since they picked up the vehicle, which we also notified them we wanted to see again within 500 miles to reinspect the transmission fluid level, any possible leaks, etc.
The extra cost of replacing the transmission cooler and hoses that were leaking and also contaminated, due to the failed transmission, were also discussed prior to their replacement and were approved by the customer before the repairs were performed. When the customer picked up the vehicle, he could only afford to pay part of the bill and needed the vehicle back so he could get back to work as I remember with the promise that he would return to pay off the rest of his bill within a couple of weeks. As stated, we have not heard from him since, this was nearly 4 months ago.
Several attempts have been made to contact him in regards to his bill. Calling him would just go to voicemail, then was blocked from calling.
I would assume this complaint is due to us trying to contact him and retrieve what is still owed on the invoice. If the customers complaints were legitimate he could have contacted us or picked up the phone when we called to address any of the concerns listed above.
