I have home warranty. I filed a claim about a plumbing issue. The warranty sent out Barkley plumbing. I paid them $65 as specified in my contract through my warranty. They texted me what the repair/parts will cost. I told them to go to my insurance to get authorization and they did. Now they said they submitted the invoice to insurance and insurance isnt paying promptly enough. Ive been helping by calling insurance. Insurance says that the contractor isnt doing it right and the contractor says the links and phone numbers theyre given are not working. Thus, they are pressuring me to pay. I never signed a contract/work order with them. They are telling me that they will send me to collections on 5/6 bc Im not paying. Im scared that it will affect my credit and that they have my address and number. I consulted a lawyer who confirmed they cannot ask me to pay bc Im not the person who hired them. The lawyer talked to them and they hung up on her, did not try to find a resolution and told me they are sending me to collection Monday. I almost gave in & paid before talking to the lawyer but she told me Im being bullied by them bc they have access to me. I sent them a message and what I got back after reiterating that they dont have a contract with me and shouldnt go after me was **************** from Barkley Plumbing:Doesnt work that way in construction. We have worked in this town our whole lives; you can trust us to reimburse you.Im truly at a loss and think Im in the right but scared that they will ruin my credit score. Ideally Id like them to go after the warranty company not me. Im ok paying part of the invoice to offset both of our losses around that. And Id like it to not impact my credit score.attaching the invoice which even has Rely (the warranty company) as the addressee. attaching a couple emails from the home service club which is Rely that show my claim number and them scheduling the plumber. attaching a receipt that shows rely as customer.
