I hired ******************* to build a fence for me in ****************. The work was to take 4 days to complete. The deal was he would buy materials at *********** so that I could pay for materials on my credit card. He first said that the quote would be $4,500, but then said materials would be higher than he expected, Like $2,700 & said the price would be $4,800. He completed most of the work Aug 15th, then demanded full payment. I spent the next 3 days cleaning the site & had to re install shed doors myself in extreme heat. I am a senior citizen. There were several areas below the fence line where dogs would be able to get out & I rent out the property. He said he would fill the gaps with dirt. That did not happen. He was also supposed to put an X on the wood gates as part of the job. He didn't do that & then said he would have to add more cement to the posts etc. IE charge me more. He said I needed 80 bricks to fix the open spaces at the bottom, that I could purchase & haul up myself. He would install for $150. As it is, I had to find the fencing materials near ********, where I live & make 2 trips up to ******. **** did not order the fencing or have me order it before he went to *********** Once he found out they didn't have it, he did nothing. Mind you bricks & rolls of chain link are heavy. He kept having things go wrong & asking me for more money. I made 2 payments, then said I would pay when he finished the job. He wanted me to pay on PayPal. Last payment, I was pressured by him & the person that had recommended him to pay immediately. ****** put the funds on hold & he was furious & demanded I pay another way. I paid $525 on July 15, $675 on Jul 18th & $2,977 on Aug 15th. I spent $1,823 on materials which I was to subtract from the $4,800 leaving $2,977. I had forgotten to deduct what I already paid for labor. $1,200. I let him know this on Fri, Aug 19th. The funds were released on Sat. He picked up the funds & has not replied back to me. He owes me $1,200 minimum.
