On April 20, 2022, we paid A Living Art to pour and finish a concrete pad in front of our barn. It was a large pad roughly 16x75. Towards the end of the job, it was obvious that the weather was fast changing. They felt that to protect the pads finish while it was curing, they should cover it in plastic. They tried laying the plastic on it but the wind picked it up and would blow it off. So they decided to place boards on top of the plastic to hold it down. Within a couple hours of them leaving, we contacted them because we could see that someone had put a pitchfork on the new concrete to hold down the plastic and it had left an impression. I told them that I was worried about the rest of it but he said that he thought the concrete had set up enough that the rest was fine. They were in a hurry because they were worried about rain but the winds were really strong and unfortunately, while they were trying to lay the boards down on the plastic, the wind kept whipping it up and the long boards would hit the concrete leaving marks. And with the wind lifting the plastic and the boards up, it was slapping the boards into the curing concrete repeatedly and every board ended up leaving an imprint. The plastic also left streaks where it was moving around on the surface. So next day they told us we could take the plastic off, we could see not only the damage the plastic and boards had done but also in their hurry to quickly finish, they hadn't broomed the entire area the same, leaving some broom marks going a different direction in patches. They also failed to finish a stress line and the pad has already developed a stress crack where one should have been.We had them come out to look at the damage. They assure us that they would take care of it but he said he needed to consult with his concrete supplier about how to fix it. He said he would let me know the next day what they recommended. That was 2 weeks ago. He has stopped responding to all of my messages.
