On Wednesday July 6, 2023, I got a dentist appt because my teeth were hurting so bad and I knew that I needed them to be pulled out. I was happy because I was able to get in last minute because of a cancellation. When I arrived, they did they exam and xrays and agreed that I probably needed at least 2 teeth pulled. They knew that I was on ********* and they said they were going to put together a care plan. I just wanted my teeth pulled and to treat the infection, but the specialist doctor said that they required me to get a bone graft in order to pull my teeth. I had no idea what that even meant but they said that I needed to pay **** dollars extra that wasn't covered by insurance. I didn't have the money and I told them that I didn't have the money and they offered to get me a line of credit. My daughter stepped in to offer to pay. They never told me that if I did this that there was a chance that the bone graft wouldn't even take because I am a smoker. They also didn't give me any basic care plan option to just pull the teeth and get antibiotics. My daughter later talked to a friend who is a dentist who said that because I'm on social security and medicaide they should have give me an option to just pull the teeth. I feel like they scammed me out of this money and I hope this never happens to anyone ever again. I cannot afford ****, and what if the bone graft fails, or worse, what if there are complications which we were told later, by her friend, can happen with bone grafts, then I will have to pay more to get it fixed. The other dentist said that if there is no tooth emplants or other such plans, then they shouldn't have done an bone graft especially since I could not afford it.
