            -Purchased devices on 12/18/2019.-Hearing Specialty Center assured me they accepted my insurance, and would work with them for payment.-Deliberately sent wrong ITIN to insurance so they were paid as out of network.-Swore up and down that they still worked with my insurance, and that I needed to contact them to resolve (which, as I found out, is not how that works).-Insurance verified that they charged me for two pairs of devices (so, fraud). One Lyric, one Signia brand.-Insurance also verified they used the wrong ITIN, and they needed to send updated claim.-Contacted Hearing Specialty Center, was assured they would handle it and call me back. No other contact from August 2020 to December 24th of 2021. -Now they are sending me a bill dated 12/3, postmarked 12/14, threatening collections is no reply by 12/13... So they sent it one day AFTER sending me to collections, apparently.-During the last over 3 years, I repeatedly requested an itemized bill, was sent the same incorrect bill over and over. They ADDED the check they received from my insurance to my total. Also charged $6190 when other places only charged $3500 for the pair, so marking up almost double and charging that to insurance... which, pretty sure that's illegal, too.

            When the manufacturer could not repair one malfunctioning hearing aid, they offered me, through Hearing Specialty Center in ********, a special deal of $500 each for a new set of hearing aids. I was thrilled. Then I was informed that the price for "fitting" (the Center's term) would be a shocking $2200. Since I live on Social Security, I asked for a reduction and the possibility of getting one hearing aid now and a second later because of the huge debt. I was told that $2200 applied for one fitting as well as two. I could only get the new set at $1000 if I did not go through my insurance. As you might expect, once the covered year of insurance (even my home insurance is way way less) and two cleanings in that year (normally $80 each and takes about 15 minutes), I will find a new provider. It's important that I share these numbers to alert others who need hearing aids of this charge that exceeds by more than double the cost of the hearing aids). The initial fitting took about an hr and since I've already had hearing aids for about 4 years, I don't expect problems in the coming year so do the math as to what I'm being charged for at $2200.
