I hired FERNWEH REMODELING contracting company to completely rebuild my deck and they did a shady job (after charging me $80K) and that too after ************************ had rejected their first permit (about which I came to know later). They did not follow any proper inspection protocols either (never applied for a number of permits they should have). Did not even offer me to give a walkthrough of what they did. I did it on my own and found a number of issues. I hired an independent contractor to inspect it and he found many safety loop holes plus 20 more issues. 25% ($20K) amount was still pending, when we got into the disagreement. My argument was if city has given me in written they are not allowed to continue with any more construction/repairs at my property and even the current structure is illegal given they never had a valid permit, I would rather go with another contractor and give them the 25% to repair the mistakes. Emails back and forth and finally I mentioned I am not paying anything.Now the problem is, this company went ahead and withdrew 25% from my bank without my knowledge or consent because they had my routing and account number from the previous checks.Please suggest what should/can I do apart from contacting the bank about this as a fraud/theft/crime.
