This was such a disappointment, and it was mostly our own fault. If you need concrete work done, please, please get more than one bid. We thought this outfit was OK and we went with them with little knowledge of what to expect.Apparently we couldn't explain to ***** what we wanted. It's sad to pay so much and get so little. It is a functional sidewalk, though, so we can't say they didn't give us the minimum that could be done. Our house was built in 1899, and we wanted the sidewalk to match our neighbor's, which was also built in 1899. Instead, we have something that works as a sidewalk but destroys all the character of the neighborhood. We made the mistake of not being assertive with the work crew to let them know what they should be doing. Again, it's mainly our fault, as we stood by and let them build this thing. The sidewalk changes in width every few feet, and the porch step they installed shakes your spine every time you use it. We assumed professional contractors would know to make the rise on each step the same, but that wasn't the case here.We can probably get the steps to the garage fixed the way we wanted with a couple bags of Sakrete, but it's a shame that ***** either didn't understand what we told him or didn't tell his crew what to do. If we had known the sealant was about $15 worth of sealant applied with a garden sprayer, we certainly wouldn's have paid $300 for ***** to spend 20 minutes doing it.Also, they left the garage door open all night, so when I went out to look, I found that their negligence caused me to lose my favorite bicycle. You don't leave garage doors open, inviting thieves. Fortunately, I had the battery switch on my MGB turned off, or it would have been gone as well. ***** did compensate me for the stolen bicycle, so that's something.Eventually, someone else will own this house, and maybe they won't care about the horrible sidewalk.
