Hello, we bought a newly constructed $2.4m+ home from Village life, closing was in March of 2022. We moved in in May and soon after my wife was poked by a chip from the hardwood floor. When we looked at it closely we noticed that there were a LOT of places throughout the house where the wood was chipped at the edge between one piece and the next. So we included this concern in our 90 day warranty list. While a representative from Village life came by around July and took a look, he said their installer needed to come and take a look. Despite regular follow up from my side, the installer didn't stop until October (or so). He said it wasn't an installer issue and would take it up with the manufacturer. Regular follow *** did not yield any further answer, until village life transferred warranty claims to another company and deferred this item to the 1 year list - at that point they also told us that the manufacturer said it wasn't their issue. Tried with the new warranty servicer, they also concluded this was not covered under warranty - even though the issue occurred and was noted shortly after we moved in. So I ended up having another specialist stop by who suggested that it probably was an installer issue as the wood we have is actually quite difficult to damage in this fashion after installation (such as through daily use). He also suggested that he could fill in the spots with woodfiller so that future issues (such as further chipping or poking someone) would not occur. I had him complete the job for $578, and am looking for Village Life to reimburse me. I sent the request to them and they just repeated that it wasn't covered under warranty and hence would not cover it. For the price range at which we bought the home, the numerous chips are not acceptable. they should stand behind their home quality including the flooring. Hard for me to accept the installers assertion when they may be at fault, but I can't dispute their opinion as I am not an expert.
