I contracted Les from out-of-town to do this project. So, I took him at his word, and paid him in-full immediately for each step. In fact, since he (allegedly) completed the project according to the agreed schedule, which was tight, I paid him a +$500 tip for his guys.Summary of issue:I only picked Les because of a time constraint, which was that he could start on May 17th, and finish by May 24.I have emails confirming, yes, if this is still the schedule, lets proceed beginning the project May 17.Les now claims there was no delay and everything happened on schedule. What I observed on my side is, on Monday the 22nd it sounded like things were behind schedule when I called in to check. I had a hard stop of the 25th that was communicated repeatedly.Les got an allotment of hot mud (fast drying concrete) and, to meet our agreed-upon timeline, poured it. He later explained that he had a separate conflict with the concrete place over the bad batch. It was way too hot and they knew it told them they put me in a bad spot with the ownerAside from the hot mud issue making the driveway look generally bad, he did the following things: Did not place a drain where needed Did not use a form for the edge Did not cut actual control joints this will crack in winter Damaged the home (notably, big chunk of wood) Left the property a mess Changed story about several points (most importantly, flipping on the point I inspected the job before I paid him, and changing it to, I havent seen it yet Changed his charming tone immediately after bringing this to light Initially he said I had no standing to complain. Then, after pictures, at one point he told me it was at least $4,000 that he owed me, then changed that to why dont you get the re-work done and submit receipts for me to reviewBusiness response

IM SO SORRY YOU FEEL THAT WAY ******. WE DID YOUR DRIVE WAY ON A RUSH AS YOU ASKED, AND YES IT WAS HOT CONCRETE AS YOU STATED, BUT YOU STILL WANTED IT DONE.AND I ALSO LET YOU KNOW BUT YOU WAS SO HAPPY ON THE *** WE POURED YOUR DRIVE WAY. I KNEW IT HAD A FEW ROCK POCKET AND YOU STILL WAS TELLING ME " ITS FINE IM HAPPY WE HAVE A WIDER DREIVE WAY NOW" AND THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER YOU CAME UP WITH ALL THESE ACCUSATIONS, WICH I WAS CONFUSED WANTING HALF YOUR MONEY. SO I ****** YOU THAT WE CAN COME OUT AND DO ANY REPAIRS THAT YOU NAY NOT BE HAPPY WITH AND YOU SAID NO. SO I ALSO STATED WE WILL PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE AND YOU SAID NO TO THAT TO. WHAT HAVE ME CONFUSED IS THAT YOU WERE OUT THERE THE *** OF THE POUR , YOU AND YOUR WIFE AND YOU WERE SO HAPPY AND EVEN PAID YOU BILL.
