I am submitting this complaint on behalf of my mother, ****** *******. In June, we had this business screen our deck. However, the workers left a space on the deck unscreened which we have had a bird fly through and other areas that are beginning to sag. They also installed a screen door that will not open and close properly because it is sagging after only a few months following installation, making the door impossible to use. The owner inspected the work in October but has refused to return to make the proper repairs. In addition, earlier this year, in April/May we had DL House Painting paint our house. During the process, we discussed a nearly new aluminum extension ladder that we had on the property that was purchased for window cleaning with the possibility of the owner purchasing the ladder for use with their painting. The owner, ******* indicated that the ladder was too tall for his work. However, we captured video of one of his workers taking the ladder and loading it onto their van. ******* indicated that the worker would return the ladder after we shared the video with him to prove that the item was taken. However, we later discovered that the ladder that was returned was a shorter, paint covered and partially rusted step ladder. ******* initially denied that they kept our ladder then offered to pay $75 saying that the worker had left the country. Our ladder was nearly new and worth over $200. We feel that this company has tried to prey on a senior citizen in the community by not completing work, stealing then refusing to return the items. Because this company can't be trusted, we are now requesting: 1) that they pay $200 for the ladder that was taken from the property and to cover costs to dispose of the junk ladder which they brought to our home and; 2) return $1000 which is the cost to complete the screening that was left unfinished, to repair the areas that are not fitting properly, and to replace the screen door with a properly fitted door.Business response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to meit is important to note that the business did indeed reach out but did not leave a voicemail as indicated. We request that they mail a refund in the agreed amount and that the case remain open until payment is received and successfully processed.

We filed complaint No. ******** and the business agreed to refund $1200 to the homeowner. However, despite reporting this he had reached out left a message, we have not been in contact with the business owner and he has yet to fulfill his commitment to immediately refund the $1200.00 which as agreed. Please reopen this case to ensure that the business mails a refund to the homeowner as agreed.Business response

We had a complaint No. ******** with DL Housepainting. This is to notify that the owner has resolved the issue and refunded the money as promised. I was unable to upload the documents to the system but wanted to provide this update that the issue has been
