HVAC System installed in January, 2021. Job Order ******* (through Fidelity Home Warranty) Selling my home next month. Pre-Inspection done on 5/10/24 identified the condensate line terminted in my crawl space and should have terminated outside the house structure. Called Mountain **************************** (spoke with ********) and he confirmed the consensate should not have terminated in the crawl space, but he stated that since it was done like that initially, they went ahead and did the same. Fidelity will not cover this error as it was 3 years ago. In calling the City of ************************* it was discovered the permits were not pulled and there no inspection of the work done. Our portion of payment was $1,600, as the rest was covered by Fidelity Home Warranty. I want to be reimbursed the cost to have the line terminate outside the structure, as I'm going through a company with a good reputation (Rainier ****************************, Tacoma)Business response

Mountain Heating & Cooling, LLC installed a new heat pump and air handler at your address on January 27, 2001. As a contractor for your home warranty, we were there to install the new equipment and hook back up the existing connections to the new air handler. ******** misspoke by saying that we did the same with the condensate line as we only connected to the existing pipe that was above the foundation that we could see. We had no knowledge of were the condensate line ended as that was not part of what was done. Had the condensate line issue been discovered the cost to rerun the condensate line to penetrate outside of the home would have been added to the cost of the charges that the homeowner paid as it may not have covered by their warranty company.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:The installation was not January 27, 2001 as they stated, but in fact, January 27, 2021. The permits WERE PULLED as required, and had this been done correctly, it would have been identified at inspection time that the condensate line did not end outside the home structure. I do not believe that ******** mis-spoke when he told me they simply attached to the existing line. They knew it was wrong, and chose not to fix it or notify us of such. It doesn't matter at this point if the situation would have been covered by our home warranty or not. It would have been paid by the home warranty or us as homeowners. They simply did NOT notify us of this situation, nor was their work inspected by the City, as required BY LAW!!!!! They performed the work and did not pull the permits that were required.
Sincerely,
