I wanted to hire this company to install a Mini Split HeatPump in my house, but they wanted over $6000 for a very simple install which already had electric and pad. As I was broke and freezing but needed heat I decided to install my own Mr. Cool DIY Mini-split which was much less. However ******* (my local utility) said to get the $4,400 rebate I needed to have my unit certified that it was installed correctly (Not leaking) IT DID NOT HAVE TO BE WARRANTIED. I contacted F*********** Electric back and explained the situation. But they refused to help as I installed a DIY unit. They went on about me wanting them to install the DIY unit but I never asked for that, I only asked the to make sure it was installed properly. Their website states: "We Service All Major Brands of Electric HVAC Equipment" apparently just not for disabled veterans or foreign born people... From: Hans F*********** Sent: Sunday, July 24, 2022 10:11 AM To: ***** *********; Contact Subject: RE: Invoice from F*********** Electric - Emergency Service Call "*****, Respectfully, the fact that our company gave you a quote for a heat pump installation (which you declined) does not in any way obligate us to take on liability for your DIY heat pump installation. We have never offered such a service and we never will." Sorry we couldn’t be more help. Our back log for installs is mid July April 11th is the day I could review the installation for getting you a quote. Labor alone for two men 1.5 days is $2,136. Assuming equipment costs is $1,500 plus 35% profit is roughly $2,100 cost to you. Unfortunately we don’t install customer supplied equipment. Plus another $1,200 for material cost…. Refrigerant lines, line set cover, outdoor unit pad and risers, circuit breaker, disconnect box, carflex, misc hardware, and electrical permit. $5,436 plus $495 sals tax. Getting pretty close to $6,000+/- for the installed system. Joe A***** HVACR Project Manager ******************** ************

This individual did not utilize our services. He requested that we help him obtain a utility rebate by completing paperwork as an authorized installer taking responsibility for his DIY heat pump installation. This is not a service we provide. He claims, without evidence, that we're discriminating against him. He is upset because he didn't follow the rules for the utility rebate program and blames us for his failure to obtain a rebate.

      Customer response

No one asked F*********** Electric to take responsibility, but just asked to confirm to it was installed and is not leaking.  They advertise on their website https://fredelectric.com/hvac-repair-and-service/  the following "We Service All Major Brands of Electric HVAC Equipment"   But they do not do that for me. So when they help one demographic but not me, what is that, other than illegal?  I am only asking the same as any potential customer that may ask "Can you please check my unit to make sure it is not leaking."  They help them though, just not me.  When they helped me with an emergency call with my electric panel, they were happy to come out and not claim "We do not work with that Electric panel model."  They are pissed that I bought my own unit and in retaliation refuse to work on it because I did not buy one from them.  If I had the money I would have bought from them, but I am a disabled veteran and could not afford the $6K+ they wanted for an inferior product.  To make things worse, I keep getting reports that they have been telling people that I am suing them which was not true.  So because of this company refusing to help, I cannot get the $4,400 rebate I really need, so me and my family get to suffer.   They have also delete my 1 star review on Facebook to make them look better, and blocked me on FB to hide the truth, and I believe have reported reviews I have left on other sites too.  Yet they are happy to take a whole lot of business in the area from others who need the rebates.  SO ONCE AGAIN WHAT IS IT CALLED WHEN THEY ONLY HELP ONE DEMOGRAPHIC AND NOT ANOTHER WITH ALMOST THE SAME PROBLEM / ISSUE?
