This Credit Union charges fees when a fee should not be charged. ***** per fee. If I take a picture of a check and send it after 10:00 it will not post until 4:00 pm. If something comes through on my acct during that time I get charged a fee if I do not have enough in there. I changed my account to not let anything go through if the money is not available but I still get charged. They treat it like an ****** believe these fees should be returned back to me. I have had 15 ***** fees since July which is very unfair and Im on a fixed incomeBusiness response

After reviewing the account associated with the complainant,*********************, we have concluded that no fees were charged in error. Indeed, since July, 2023, the account had insufficient funds to cover ACH transactions on 7/31/2023, 8/7/2023, 9/6/2023, 9/29/2023, 10/27/2023, 11/10/2023,12/19/2023, 1/5/2024, 1/16/2024 and 1/19/2024.
**************** has opted-out of our Overdraft Protection program. Overdraft Protection charges a $25.00 fee for each occurrence of transactions greater than $5.00 for which funds are not available and we pay it. By opting-out of this service, these items are now being returned to the merchant as NSF and we charge a $25.00 NSF fee. All items in question were transmitted via ACH by the merchant.
Upon further review, **************** has had two (2) fees reversed as a courtesy since May, 2023. In August, 2023, she was counseled by our Ocean Park Branch Manager as to how to check her balance and options for doing so in order to avoid future overdrafts.
Per our Mobile Deposit Agreement Funds Availability clause Funds deposited using the Services will generally be made available in two business days from the day of deposit. **************** has had three (3) fees as a result of a Mobile Deposit which was deposited the same-day as the transactions which caused an overdraft. All other fees charged as described in the complaint are unassociated with our Mobile Deposit. All fees on the account were charged appropriately for insufficient funds.
As a courtesy, we will refund the three (3) fees charged as a result of the Mobile Deposit availability, however, moving forward, *************** will need to ensure that the account has an appropriate balance to cover all charges prior to initiating those charges. Funds deposited to the account are not always made available immediately regardless of deposit type and it is up to the accountholder to be aware of their current available balance.
I have attached a copy of our Overdraft Protection Program information, which may be helpful to **************** to review.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:When I had the overdraft protection, I was still charged an overdraft fee, so I changed it to not have anything go through if there is no money in the account, which is what I have had at every credit union that I have banked with. Which, by the way, I was never charged fees for ACH. So, no I do not accept your offer of 80.00 I am on a fixed income, I was in an automobile accident on October 25th, 2023 and could not go to the bank to make deposits, due to no vehicle. My car was totaled due to a lady running a stop sign and totaled my car and killed my dog. So, lately my mind is not all there. If I take a picture of a check to get deposited it should be deposited at that time, but it isn't. No credit union has rules like this. There are many lawsuits out there because of all these fees being charged. I would at least like $200.00 more credited back to my account please.
Sincerely,

I have been banking at the Great Northwest Federal Credit Union in ******** ********** for years now. I had Lexington Law help me and they've contacted them but yet nothing seems to have been resolved. My issue is that although I've been banking at this credit union for years they still seem to charge me for a late fee every single month for my house payment that they take out of my account on their own each month. I've tried talking to people about it and I've gotten nowhere. they've also turn this into my credit report which is ruined my credit on many occasions. there's a lady there that handles these issues and she hasn't liked me for years and I feel basically that she is harassing me in a way by not handling or taking care of this problem and only making things worse if anything because when Lexington Law contacted her and in return i got basically in no uncertain terms threatened by her over contacting them and them having contacted her. I'm just tired of being harassed. I'm tired of my account being late and my credit going to s*** because of this and I feel it's time something gets done about it and I can't seem to get anybody else to help me with it so I'm asking you. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and help me with this problem and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.Business response

To Whom It May ******************* ****** has indeed been a member of Great NorthWest FCU for many years. We have had conversations with him in the past in regard to questions and issues with his account. Mr. ****** has not recently contacted us regarding any concern about late fees associated with his account. We show no notes on his account, nor have we received a complaint thru any of our available channels.
Upon review of his account, fees that have been applied thus far were charged appropriately and we show no negative reporting to the credit bureaus regarding his account. If at anytime Mr. ****** feels there was a credit union error, and it was reported to us, it would be properly reviewed, reversed if necessary and we can make adjustments for credit reporting purposes. That is, however, not the case. If Mr. ****** can provide more information about how he feels the fees charged were incorrect, we would gladly review and reassess.
