Here are the broad strokes for context:?I purchased the Ural in March 2021 from official Ural dealer ****** Moto Sport in St-****** ****** (******), the nearest dealer to my home (2 hours away)? The warranty just expired this last March ?Im still paying off the unit. Im a little over half way done ?Ive kept up with all my scheduled maintenance diligently, as Urals unfortunately have a bad reputation online for being unreliable ?I had regular maintenance performed by official Ural dealers ****** Moto Sport as well as *************************** (as recent as June 7th and 8th)Unfortunately, despite respecting limits and babying the bike tremendously, Ive had two catastrophic breakdowns in 2 years:?Last summer a push rod snapped while a long way from home, rendering the left cylinder inoperable. I had to rent a truck and tow it home ($1,000+). I didnt have the bike for over a month due to this ?On June 10th Only days after a maintenance with **************** (the bike in the best shape Ive ever had it), while on a ride 2 hours from home, a sudden loud metallic noise occurred, followed by a shredding metal noise. I stopped it immediately and had it towed home by tow truck, where my local motorcycle mechanic looked at it. After finding shredded metal bits in the oil (see pictures), he surmised that the crank is severely damaged. ?I had to get ****** Moto Sport (dealer) to pick up the unit two hours away for them to assess the damage. Because the warranty has just expired, any fixes would now be out of pocket.?On July 26th, after disassembling the motor, ****** Moto Sport discovered that it is completely destroyed, with fragments of the motor that have come apart and shredded the inside. They surmise this is due to a poor-quality engine build, something theyve seen before. The clutch also needs to be replaced completely. They recommended that I purchase a brand-new engine, an estimated $12,000 half the worth of the unit.Customer response
