On 10/23/23 we sent A1 & Son Appliance Repair (A1) a letter requesting reimbursement for $881.78 in costs we incurred due to their damage to our refrigerator during repair attempts. ($139 paid to A1, $440 for carpet repair & $302.78 for plumbing -receipts included). We hired A1 on 9/22/23 to address a refrigerator water filter issue and vibration noise. A1 pushed hard on the filter to get it to lock into place (saying we just didn't push it in hard enough) and vacuumed under the refrigerator. saying the noise was from an overheated compressor that would quiet down within a day. We explained that weve changed the filter dozens of times and its never needed to be forced into place and were concerned that forcing it to lock would break something. We questioned their repair since the water didn't seem to be going through the filter but A1 dismissed our concerns and said it was fixed. On 9/23, 15 hours after A1 worked on the refrigerator, we found our living room flooded due to a continuous stream of water running out of the bottom of the refrigerator where A1 had worked. We turned off the water supply and called A1. who came back and said the water filter housing needed to be replaced. They capped off the fridge water line. On 9/27, A1 came to replace the filter housing but the part was faulty. On 10/2, A1 came to install a different filter housing, but it still caused the refrigerator to leak. At that point, A1 just left us with broken fridge filter, no water to the kitchen and a living room that took 6 days and countless hours to get dried out. A1 blamed us for having plumbing problems yet our water line had worked perfectly for 10+ years prior to A1 forcing the filter into place and then failing to replace the filter housing. A1 did not take any responsibility for the costly mess their faulty work caused. On 10/25, A1 was verbally abusive and threatening toward us when we talked about our concerns and reimbursement request, so we're seeking help through BBB.

      Business response

      11/29/2023

A1 & Son appliance repair was not the company that did this work. Please provide a copy of the invoice with the A1 & Son header on it and a copy of the check used as payment made out to A1 & Son.  Thank you.

      Customer response

      12/05/2023

After reviewing the response from the business, I believe I understand what happened.  The receipt provided by the business was from A1 Accomplished Appliance Repair as well as the company we wrote our check out to.  Since there was not an address on the receipt, I found A1 and Sons online with the same name -Jordan- as one of the two repair persons who did work at our home and thought they were the same company.  Our original complaint letter was addressed to *** and Jordan at A1 and Sons Appliance repair in ******, but was returned undeliverable.  We found another address via the BBB site that both A1 Accomplished Appliance Repair and A1 and Sons Appliance Repair are listed under.  We sent the letter to t *****************************************************  It appears that A1 Accomplished Appliance Repair is registered under *** and A1 and Sons is registered under his son Jordan.  Both *** and Jordan (father and son) were responsible for the issues that we filed a complaint about.  Even though our original letter was addressed to A1 and Sons, *** called me on Oct 25, 2023 to respond to my letter.  He accused me of lying, denies there was any damage, threatened me, and falsely said we had a water leak before he arrived.  I'm surprised that *** of A1 Accomplished Appliance Repair would have called me and yelled at me for 30 minutes in response to my letter if I had sent the complaint letter to a company that didn't do any work for us. I would like to learn what my next steps should be.  Do I need to re-file the complaint under the father, ***'s company name -  A1 Accomplished Appliance Repair?  Thank you for your assistance in addressing this matter.

      Best Regards,
