******* at Ma'at Masonry has demonstrated concerning business practices including:- Provided no receipts for any of my payments - Provided me with no contract to sign - Often requested payments in cash (potential tax fraud)- Numerous unplanned delays. A "2 week" job took over 2 months.- ******* claimed all employees he hired are "union". Yet 0 union workers were hired. - After paying ******* a sum he confirmed would bring the concrete job to completion, ******* required that I pay the contractor $5000 directly on the day of the concrete pour. ******* pocketed that difference.- ******* left a large dirt pile (over 1 yard) blocking my neighbor's driveway for an extended period of time and never hired dump truck to pick it up as promised. I had to pay $1500 to have the dirt disposed.- Following the concrete pour, ******* attempted to install pavers and did an extremely poor job. At this point I was tired of all the broken promises and ***** practices so fired ******* and hired Imperial Concrete to finish the job. They had to pull up all the poorly installed pavers, re-grade the driveway and re-install the pavers. ******** completed the job in 2 days.I am requesting a $8000 refund:$5000 I had to pay the contractor directly for work I had already paid ******* to perform.+$1500 for the additional costs to remove the extra dirt from my driveway.+$1500 for the extra work to redo the poorly installed pavers.******* had been paid a total of $23,077.50. As he provided no receipts, I have included text messages documenting this fact. In some texts I refer to $28,077.50 which includes the $5000 I directly paid Imperial Concrete.Attached is an estimate from Imperial concrete showing the work ******* was supposed to pay Imperial to perform on my behalf. ******* paid Imperial only $8000 and I paid the rest.Attached in an invoice from Imperial concrete documenting what I had paid them, this includes the $5000 for the concrete and $9387.63 to complete the project.
