December 25, 2023 Subject: Complaint Regarding Unfair Parking Charges at Market Place Garage Dear Sir/*****,I am writing to file a formal complaint against Market Place Garage, located at ************************************************* regarding an incident that occurred on December 23, 2023 On the mentioned date, I paid a parking fee of $17.00 at a kiosk located in the lobby. However, due to a significant traffic jam within the garage, it took over 40 minutes to reach the exit. This traffic congestion seemed to be a result of the garage being oversold, thereby affecting the movement of vehicles both entering and exiting.To my dismay, upon finally reaching the exit and scanning my ticket, I was prompted to pay an additional fee of $9.00. This was unexpected and unwarranted, especially since the delay was caused by the garage's own management issues and not by any action on my part. It came to my attention that this additional fee was imposed on every vehicle attempting to exit the garage.I believe this practice is unfair and deceptive, as customers are not informed beforehand about the possibility of incurring additional charges due to the garage's operational inefficiencies. Moreover, charging customers extra for a situation beyond their control is not only unethical but potentially violates consumer rights.Therefore, I request that the Better Business Bureau investigate this matter promptly. I believe that other patrons of the garage have likely experienced similar issues, and this practice could be affecting a significant number of consumers.As a resolution, I want Market Place Garage to refund the additional $9.00 that I was compelled to pay. Furthermore, I urge that steps be taken to ensure that such an incident does not recur, whether it be through better management of parking space availability or transparent communication with customers regarding potential additional charges.Additionally, there are no signage posted in the garage listing a telephone number to report issues. The only option is to visit getmyreceipt.com and to not surprise you get an error message.
