My now 14-year old started receiving services from this clinic roughly 2 years ago. We sought out this this clinic for their specialized care, and were willing to pay the out-of-network cost to work with highly trained therapists. In January, my daughter changed providers and in February, I had a new insurance plan (my now ex's plan had a very high deductible, so they never got around to paying) and submitted the superbills for reimbursement after paying out of pocket. Regence denied my claim because the new provider was not a fully licensed LSWIC but a LSWAIC. The difference in acronyms had escaped my attention, and here I was out $175 for monthly appointments. My primary complaint is that my expectation was that we would continue to receive top notch care for a top notch price, as previously experienced for 2 years. Hallowell Todaro did not alert to the fact that the new provider was not fully licensed. There is no explicit statement on her bio on their website. They charge clients the same amount per hour, despite the lack of experience (which can make a huge difference in quality of care). They told me that it says that she is receiving supervision on their superbill. In the footnote of the second (empty) page it says in small print that this provider is being "employed and supervised" by another provider. To me, that does not in any way explain that this is a supervisory relationship due to training rather than a regular employee supervisor relationship. I emailed and talked to them about this issue on the phone. They agreed verbally that they are not upfront about who is fully licensed, but they insist services have been provided and will not refund the money. I believe they were negligent if not unethical and deceptive in their quest to earn money. Services provided were not of the same type I had signed up for initially.
