I have stabled my horses at Sequim Valley Stables for over 5 years and have never had an issue with my horse's safety or care so I take exception to the negative reviews. And yes, the place is aesthetically lacking - but what is more important to me is that the horses are happy, and it shows. And in the five years i've been there, I've not heard of any injuries due to the "junk" in the pastures or anywhere else. If there is an issue with a board down or something that could injure a horse (and we all know that this stuff happens even in the best managed place) it's taken care of as soon as it's brought to their attention. I've never seen the horses without water - so I can't corroborate the reviewer's statement about water - but that is definitely not my experience. In fact, the current barn manager cleans the water buckets regularly. And they are always full.Included in the basic board rate is daily cleaning, of course, as well as shavings for the stall, blankets put on and taken off during the season, the same for fly masks. Fly spray (provided by the owner) is also sprayed before they go out. Supplements and grain as provided by the owner is fed daily - all this at no extra charge. The old ***** at the barn referenced in a review are indeed high maintenance - and ******* goes above and beyond to help them out in ways that are hard to imagine, including special medications and feed, and helping them get up when they can't. I don't know too many places that would give such specialized care. So, yes, there are issues, but that's not unusual at any facility. But bottom line is that **** and ******* care about the horses, and it shows. My horse is quite happy there -- as am I.

Do not board your horse here. Junk hay is fed and it is completely run down and hazards for horses are at every turn. My minis were there for a week and the final straw was none of the horses had their water filled in a day or so. That morning some horses had no water!! Avoid this place, do not subject your horse to this run down dangerous facility!!

About 2-3 months ago horses from this stable were running down a busy & highly trafficked road. My friends horse was one of them. This wasn't the first time. We've heard in the neighborhood that alot of horses escape quite frequently. Pay the place a visit and you will see why. Also I don't think the owner runs this place legally and an investigation should be made.

I managed this place for over a year and must conclude this is NOT a safe place to keep your horse. There are multiple safety hazards and junk EVERYWHERE along the path where they just let horses freely bolt down toward the pasture, not to mention the junk IN the pasture and how the weak electric fencing always seems to be breaking. There is exposed electrical line over stalls/on the ground and exposed nails on boards. Theres an Akita dog that chases horses out into the pasture and back in at dark (having caused multiple hroses to slip and fall or run through fencing), and many horses during my stay who broke through rotted fencing and wandered overnight (the property is not closed). There have always been exploited and overworked staff because the place loves to stay understaffed. The ranchowner takes very little accountability and does not lead her team of staff. She also would bring horses in (a herd of 14) long after dark. One horse actually body slammed into the side of our fifth wheel trailer, which damaged our trailer and could have been devastating for the horse! When asked if ranchowner would pay for the damage through insurance theyre supposed to have, she told me, on video, to call and charge the boarder!! When also asked why she brings horses in so late, she said on video: "It's my property, I can bring them in any time I want." I also witnessed the ranchowner hanging a mare by a strap from a backhoe for over 2 hours in an effort to get the horse to stand on its feet. The horse (who is 34 years old) had given up, the strap was around its *****, and she was practically dangling upside down for most of this struggle. It was so disturbing that two of us had to walk away. When asked MULTIPLE TIMES, the ranchowner REFUSED to call the boarder to tell her what was happening with the horse. The boarder still didn't know the next day. I would not recommend this as a safe place to entrust your horse.
