I paid over $420 on December 11 2023 for repair work on my 1997 ********* During the process Meineke of 5309 Pt. ******* Dr. ** Gig Harbor, WA ***** lied to me about what was wrong with the vehicle and failed to make any repairs. I was told by them that my engine had no compression on multiple cylinders and quoted $12000 for a used replacement engine. I was also billed for a replacement battery even though there was nothing wrong with my battery. I got suspicious and retrieved my car with a tow trailer (I had to pay their $420 invoice to get it back). Upon inspecting my car:1. the crank case ventilation hoses had ruptured, which explain my whole issue with the car. No one at Meineke had taken the air filter housing off to check this.2. it was clear no compression test was done (the housing would have been removed to get to spark plugs, there was no sign of anyone touching the engine in any way) so the "numbers" I was told were made up in order to trick me into paying for an engine 3. the battery was dead, it's AGM and needs a special charger, I recharged it. They disposed of my battery and sold me a new one but my battery was relatively new and did not need replacing. No legitimate work or diagnostics were done with my car, instead I was sold a battery and lied to about my engine in an attempt to get more money from me. My car needed a $20 crank case ventilation hose and nothing more. I replaced the hose myself.Business response

here is the detailed activity. This shop did what they supposed to do. No foul play has been occurred.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:1. No diagnosis was done. I was told the car's electrical system is dead and no obd codes can be read as the reason. This is not true, I connected my obd reader and read codes just fine.
2. No diagnosis was done because the air filter cover was not taken off. This would be required to see the actual obvious problem and to do a compression test of which the shop made no record because it's fabricated. See attached.
Absolutely no legitimate work was done and on top of that there was an attempt to fool me into paying $12000 for a replacement engine that isn't needed when all that needed to happen was a $20 hose being replaced. The shop did no work, lied repeatedly, and even tried to defraud me.
I would like all of my money back.
Sincerely,
