My name is ***********************, Executive Director of ****************. I purchased a window cling from FastSigns in **************, ** and picked it up last week. ******* provided me instructions on how to apply it. However, I couldnt remember all the instructions she gave me because I wasnt trying to apply it same day. So, I emailed on 6/21 to get instructions and got one response. So today, 6/23, I called and spoke with ******** and tried to get instructions and she said that all she could email me was something about the masking side but I probably wouldnt know what side that is but I can come in and she can show me. I explain that I work a full-time job along with running a nonprofit organization and I am not taking time out of my workday to come up there for something that she can email me. She said that yall offer installation and I advised that I was not paying $125 for someone to put a sticker on our door. Im very frustrated with this company and as I told her you all will no longer get my business. This seems like a sales tactic to make people pay the $125 and has a nonprofit organization. I am very disgusted and that installation fee is not in our budget.

The owner of the Tacoma and Silverdale FastSigns locations is, above all else, mean. She does not provide training to her employees; opting for the old call them stupid if they make a mistake method instead. There are multiple instances of hazardous substances, including things known to be cancer causing, with no eye wash area or eye protection and no instructions on use of said substances. She also expects her employees to use heavy machinery such as table saws and drill presses without training. Employees regularly work through their lunch breaks, which the owner is aware of but she continues to clock all employees out for 30 minute lunch breaks anyways, even when she knows that a lunch was not able to be taken.

      FastSigns Response

      09/20/2023

This is clearly a disgruntled employee, or their friend, most likely the one that was let go yesterday as he flashed the middle finger at me on his way out the door after blatantly choosing to make an order incorrectly.

The things listed here are not completely untrue, I will admit to not being the softest of women and I do use the word stupid often to describe every situation that annoys me. Inanimate objects are often called stupid, it is my go to word.  I still believe that a certain amount of common sense should exist in people but that does not make them stupid anymore than the saw that didn't cut straight is stupid, or the person operating it, which is generally me. But, there are a number of thing that are blatantly false.

      1) The table saw is a safety saw. There is virtually no way to cut yourself with it and there is a lot of scrap material here in the shop to practice on which is what any training would consist of. It is very simple to say, "I haven't used this before, can you show me". No one has ever been told to use something that they don't understand. The power switch itself is hard to find so I have a hard time believing that it was used without my help. 2) The drill press is simply a drill, mounted on a track. Again, if someone needed to use it, it is as simple as asking for help, that is what most people do when they do not understand something that they haven't used before. 3) The eye wash station is in the first-aid kit. 4) The safety glasses are by the panel saw along with the ear protection, hanging next to the sign that says that you must wear eye and ear protection when operating the saw. 4) As for lunches, when my employees are hired part of the new hire paperwork states that per the law employees are required to take a 30 minute lunch break and that they will not be paid for it. It is set up so that it has to be reviewed so that expectations are understood. Generally my employees hang a sign on the door saying that the shop is closed for lunch if they need to leave and that they will be back in 30 minutes or they are willing to eat in the shop. We do not have a lot of foot traffic and the phones go to voice mail even when someone is in the shop. Generally there are two people here during shop hours and none of this is necessary. I can not make anyone do anything and they are adults and can do what they wish on whatever breaks that they legally are required to have.

Most of what I see here is that someone got their feeling hurt. Again, I am not the warm fuzzy type but will do my best to show anyone how to handle issues as they arise. Most of what we do is very repetitive but I can not train everyone for every unforeseen event. I will remind my next hires of the need for eye and ear protection and that the first-aid kit has what they need should something happen. And, I will try to smooth out the rough edges a bit and find a new go-to word other than stupid...
