September 27, 2023 I had my lexus towed to Halladays automotive because it broke down near their shop. I was sure it was alternator or battery. After an evaluation I was called and told it was my alternator and it would cost about $1200 to replace most of the cost would be labor because tgey would have to remove the radiator to install new alternator which would take some time. I searched you tube to see if this was true and yes you do have to remove radiator. However every video I saw flashed a message across the screen in bold letters saying "BE CAREFUL PLASTIC VALVE ON RADIATOR WILL BREAK IF NOT CAREFULY REMOVED." I picked up my car at closing time and proceeded to drive home to olympia. I made it about 5miles and my check engine light came on try to call halladays no answer. Stopped at oreilys and had them scan my check engine warning. Apparently they never reconnected my cam shaft sensor. So the attendant did that for me. The next day on my way home from work at 1230 am my car started over heating. Pulled over had to wait 2hrs for AAA. Towed the car to my house and checked radiator I had zero fluid in my radiator. Called halladays tge next day never returned my call. Missed work. Next day called halladays explained the situation was told by guy that he bought the business the day my car was fixed so he's not liable. Would not tow my car to his shop. Missed work. Next day I had my car towed back to halladays where he informed me my radiator was broken and it was the plastic intake. He accused me of lying saying it was broken when I first brought it in. If that was the case then why wasn't I informed I had a broken radiator clearly tgey would have seen that when it was removed. And called to see if I wanted it fixed. It also would have been on my bill that I was told I had broken radiator. My radiator had no issues until they removed it. They refused to fix it so I had to tow car back to a reputable radiator shop in Olympia to be fixed. It was broken by removal.
