I saw an ad for a Dutchman Express **** class C 23 motorhome. I was a relatively new widow moving all the way across country to ** with my little dog and cat. I am a senior citizen and have lupus and early pancreatic cancer. I needed a vehicle that would be sturdy and safe. The owner assured me in no uncertain terms, that he had just driven it up from CA and it drove wonderfully. He said it was in great shape. What do I know??? I paid $18,900 for it. I only got as far as *****, ** where the whole back end literally gave out. Strange town...almost 5 pm. found someone to do it within about a week. stayed at pet friendly airbnb for that whole week at a cost of about $800. At a week, the last part still hadn't come so I left it there hoping to consign it for sale, rented an SUV at a cost of $700 and took another week to drive across country. The ** got 'fixed' (at least for that issue) for $3000. I contacted the owner at Afford it who offered no help and no apologies. "It was in great shape when I drove it." I left it in WA with my brother in law and signed up for direct service sales who listed it for me for 3 months for $799. I took it to ************ to be serviced for new owners and found not only the fridge and generator not working, but moldy and soggy walls and roof, as well as over cab bunk was rotted out and covered with board to hide. the roof was ready to fall in on top of people. ** service said not to put a cent into it because it was literally going to fall apart where it stood. It couldn't drive anywhere and it's only option was the scrap yard. I found a homeless guy working for a friend who needed something to live in. the friend had a barn he could put it in out of the weather, so I gave it to him. I contacted the owner a couple dozen times about early issues, including asking it he would just put it back on his lot for consignment sale. He answered the first couple with phony reassurances, but never after. He knew...he had to.

********************* bought an ** from me. It was a 25-year-old **** class C **. Before the purchase she had asked me to take it to an independent service center to do an inspection. They found that it needed a tune up and had one wire close to the steering wheel which needed repair. I stated I would repair the wire however would not do the tune up, she stated this was fine as she had a mechanic. I took the vehicle to ******************* to have tires installed. I showed her how to use the *** I told her the generator does not work. I showed her that the fridge was working, and it was currently at 34 degrees. She asked me to give her a sewer hose to make sure she's happy I provided the hose. 2 weeks go by and she contacts me saying her check engine light is on and she thinks her motor is cracked. I told her the engine is not cracked. More than likely, it is a bad sensor. I told her the vehicle is sold as is, but as a goodwill gesture I picked her up from her hotel and airport after she flew in from Georgia to check out the car. We drove down to ******** where the ** was parked, 45 min from hotel. Code was cylinder 5 misfire, shop told her it needs a tune up. There was no problem with the vehicle. She was satisfied and stated she was going to take it to a mechanic to do the tune up. A couple weeks later she stated the back end fell off and it was going to cost $3,000 to repair. She took it to a shop and stated it only costs $1,000 and a mechanic was going to fix it for her. She threated me with ********** Lemon Law which doesn't apply to used vehicles. I let her know it's a used vehicle purchased as-is and I will not be assisting further. She sent me a screenshot of a receipt with no business name or vehicle information for $1,000 and expected me to pay and I told her I will not do it.

      Complaint: 19545183

I am rejecting this response because:

it literally fell completely apart within 2 days of my journey..aloneacross country.  After leaving it, I rented a car for my cross country trip because the class C still drove horribly.  A new friend in ***** drove it back to ******* for me for $500 for a friend to drive back to ******* for my brother I. Law to sell.  We had it sold but took it to the ** dealer nearby whose mechanic showed him it was literally falling apart; sides and roof sagging u see a poor paint job, engine worth less, undercarriage ready to fall off.  He said I could either leave it at a junk yard or he knew a homeless guy could live in it.  I lost $18000 dollars.  No way could this seller not know what horrible condition it was in and that it wasnt worth even $1000.  Some gift toilet paper and a few cheap lights, etc certainly werent worth $18,000.  I sure wish hed been honest with me then, and willing to make it right now.  I guess I will have to continue to make this complaint public on BBB as well as the reviews I often leave on ****** and Yelp which are most often very positive. Im sorry to do it but others really need to be aware.

      Sincerely,

      *********************
