      We hired *******************, owner of Madmegs construction, to restore our automatic gate system that had been damaged august of 2021. We agreed on a price of $5,000 to replace solar panels, gate opening mechanism, sensors, keypads, bluetooth control - pretty much everything besides the metal gate itself. it took until mid october for the parts to come in with very little communication from ******. He bought the probably the cheapest opener system available after requesting 80% up front to start and after finally installing, the bluetooth option didnt work which we explained to him was important to us as the gate is pretty far from the house and the opening system itself worked 2 days and died. He did not replace/upgrade the solar panels as we discussed in the estimate, did not install sensors and the system he did install was completely useless within 2 days. He said he would come fix it and ended up doing so over a month later, which it seems he thought replacing the batteries that werent being charged would fix the problem. After having a very hard time getting a hold of him to complete the job we'd paid 80% up front for, he texted repeatedly about paying him the remaining balance of $500(he took $500 off for the delay on parts). We paid him in full and the gate was dead again within a few days. He almost completely ignored me for months afterwards not offering any kind of resolution. Finally, I had my wife call him from her number and he picked up immediately not knowing the number. He then told my wife he feels really bad because he failed at the job, explained the system was a "junk system" and said we need to buy a marine battery out of pocket to fix it. Clearly, he is not interested in making things right which is why we are resorting to other measures. Currently, our gate is a safety hazard that is out of code and could impede emergency services among many other issues. We need a full refund in order to hire a trustworthy contractor to repair correctly.
