I had a roofing job done beginning in July 2023 for $7,989.40. The job took multiple days. Initially they did not include the tip out so I had to call them to come and do it.. The roof had a leak and I called them and they came back. The leak was not resolved. I called and texted numerous times. I got responses sporadically. They came back maybe 5 or 6 times since then and still the roof leaks. On Oct. 30 the office said they would send out ******************* and he came out and glued down a 6ft. Rubberized strip and never returned. I called again twice and they have never responded. I paid $5000 cash and financed the remaining amount through Green *** (******* ***** ***** The roof still leaks and there is now no communication from their end and I have stopped reaching out to them. It has been 4 months. The invoice did not include an account or order number but I do have a copy saved on my cell phone. I also have a copy of the estimate and materials needed. I wish to be reimbursed so that I may find another company to do the job correctly.

On December 1st we saw the Better Business Bureau complaint and immediately reached out to the customer. As the owner of ********************, I was under the impression that **** was being taken care of, but was ******* mistaken. We definitely came up short on fixing this issue. On December 1st, we started the process of having one of our ******* go out on the weekend. He missed being able to go out on Saturday, went out on Sunday, and we special ordered materials so that we could redo the section of roof in question. The materials have just arrived and we are now working on scheduling for a dry day in the near future to fix the issue. We are grateful that **** is being gracious and patient as this should have been taken care of already.

The nature of this complaint is breach of contract, poor quality workmanship causing water infiltration to our home twice, poor communication, contractor contracting work he or his company was not capable of completing, and untimely work. This project was estimated to be done in 4 days by the first crew sent out and about a week to 10 days by our Contractor, *****************************. It has been more than 7 weeks and we are nowhere near finished. Our contract was executed on **** 2022, signed around by all parties. We put $30,000.00 down, 60%. Contract is uploaded. The nature of the dispute is detailed in the uploaded PDF with links to photos and videos of the work. If these links do not work, please let me know and I will find a way to get them to you. They are imperative for you to understand the gravity of our issue. This business is too busy on other people's roofs, on vacation, or in meetings to call us back to try to resolve the many issues that have caused damage to our home and wreaked havoc on our lives. We have become an afterthought for this business as they send their extra people to work on our house a few hours at a time.

      Customer response

      09/04/2022

      Complaint: 17719900

I am rejecting this response because:

The first reason I have for rejecting the response from DIR roofings mitigation letter is that this letter does not have any identifying information stating that this was drawn up by anyone other than DIR roofing. We do not believe that the letter was written by anyone other than the company on the letterhead, namely, Do It Right Roofing and we were never contacted by this supposed third party. In this letter, the company states that they want to repair a garage door and they are not garage door experts, so that is not even possible. The letter also states that we will allow them on our property to do work. They had 6 weeks to repair the damages they caused to our home and did not show up repeatedly to do the repairs and work on the punch list after repeatedly saying they would be here. I do not trust that they have the skills to complete the job. ******* told us that they do not have a finish ********* in their employ, so how could they possibly even attempt any of the repairs of the drywall they stepped through. ***** said that our back walls would dry out because the back wall was balloon framed. We shall find out if the walls are still wet on Tuesday.

The second reason we are rejecting this response is that we do not believe we owe them one more dime and in fact they may owe us money after we have our home repaired. We are still assessing the damages caused by DIR to our home. The mold remediation company is scheduled to come out on the 6thof September and an independent expert building inspector will also be out on the same day. We should get more information about any other experts we may need to consult at that time. After we have consulted with the necessary contractors to repair the breaches and damages, we will let you know how much DIR may need to pay us to make us whole.

As far as the other items go on the list provided in the letter from Do It Right Roofing, we will cross those bridges as they come.

      Sincerely,

      *******************
