I tried getting a ACH loan but I accidentally had it sent to a checking account that was closed after noticing that I havent received the funds I contacted my bank and they said it was refunded and returned to money tree so I contacted money tree but they say they have no record of receiving the funds back so we ended up having a 3 way call with my bank and they tell them that it was sent back and that it could take up to 7 days but after 2 weeks money tree still claims they havent received funds back yet so we ended up doing a 3 way call again and my bank provided them with a tracking number after doing so money tree was not able to find any records of the money being returned after a month goes by they keep saying the same thing pushing the date back further and further so now its gotten to the point were no one knows anything they dont know were the money went so now they trying to say that my bank took the money due to my account being closed but it clearly states that it was returned so I had to personally go to my bank to get statements or any other information and had them sent to money tree but they yet again says that the documents are not valid and ended up closing my case and pretty much saying I have to pay the money back I refuse to pay back anything that I never received.

Money tree mistakenly credited a payment to the wrong month. Which led to my account being late, I called and they were supposed to fix this. They did not. As of Oct 17 my total balance was 650. As of oct 23 it is 790 dollars. I called Oct 24 and they explained it accrues 8 dollars in interest a day. Still doesnt add up. Something illegal is happening.

This Complaint (Complaint #********) was originally filed by the Complainant over a month ago, on October 25, 2023.  This Complaint involved the same Complainant, and was based on the same set of facts, as Complaint #********, which was filed on October 10, 2023. In other words, the Complainant filed two Better Business Bureau (BBB)Complaints (on October 10, 2023 and October 25, 2023) over the same matter, and this matter was resolved fully on October 26, 2023.  As Moneytree stated in its response to Complaint #********, which was submitted on October 27, 2023:

Moneytree, Inc. appreciates the opportunity to address this Complaint.  While we do not agree with the accusations made in the Complaint, we have been working directly with the Complainant to address his concerns.  We have come to an amicable resolution and the Complainant indicated that they were satisfied with our response. Moneytree requests to have this Complaint closed as unfounded.

Accordingly, Moneytree submits the foregoing in response to Complaint #******** as well as Complaint #********.

Moneytree also respectfully notes that the BBB website represents that: If your complaint meets our complaint acceptance criteria, your complaint will be sent to the business within approximately two business days.  (*******************************************************). In the case of Complaint #******** and Complaint #********, Moneytree did not receive the Complaints until, respectively, 14 calendar days and 37 calendar days had elapsed.  We value the platform that BBB provides for customers to voice their feedback and complaints; we also understand that BBB handles a large volume of complaints.  However, if it is possible, we would greatly appreciate being notified of Complaints more quickly; as it would allow us to promptly address and resolve any issues, thereby ensuring the best possible customer experience.

      Thank you so much.

Money tree is showing that I missed a payment. This has been discussed with them over the phone and supposedly fixed, however, now I owe two more payments instead of one. My account still reflects a missed payment as well. I should only owe 1 payment of 280 left. I have all of my receipts from them to include a bank statement. I provided this and they are still arguing. Scammers.

      Business response

This Complaint (Complaint #********) was originally filed by the Complainant on October 10, 2023.  Moneytree first received notification of the Complaint from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) on October 24, 2023.  Although Moneytree did not agree with the accusations made in the Complaint, Moneytree did work directly with the Complainant to address his concerns, and came to an amicable resolution on October 26, 2023. The Complainant has indicated that he is satisfied with our response.

All of the foregoing was set forth in Moneytrees response to the BBB on October 27, 2023, which requested that the BBB close the Complaint as unfounded.  Nonetheless, Moneytree has received a duplicate notification of this Complaint (Complaint #********) over a month later, on December 1, 2023.  Moneytree assumes that the duplicate notification was the result of a technical error; however, Moneytree refers the BBB to its response dated October 27, 2023 and again requests that this Complaint be closed as unfounded.  If this assumption is incorrect (for example, if the Complainant has submitted new information after the date of our response), please let us know.

I paid a ****************** and he cashed the check at Moneytree. My bank rejected the check due to an improper lien endorsement. On December 8th I paid the Company (***** **************** LLC) with a new check, he cashed it on December 9th. On December 15th I received a notice from Moneytree saying I owed them the money. Moneytree cashed a check made out to a Company and gave the money to an individual. My Bank makes me deposit Company checks and then I pay myself from my Company. Moneytree insist that they Cash the check if the individual can prove they own the company. I doubt that is the case - Moneytree said they check the business license - my name is not on a business license. What do they really check? ********************** is hounding me to pay the money to them. My Bank and an Attorney say not to pay them as I have already written a second check.

Moneytree appreciates the opportunity to respond to Complaint 19577556.  Moneytree did not become aware of the Complaint until receiving the Second Notification dated March 20, 2023 and apologizes for the delayed response.

After investigating the complainants claim, Moneytree believes that both Moneytree and the complainant have been victims of a third partys criminal fraud, and while its unclear thatas between the complainant and MoneytreeMoneytree should bear the loss, Moneytree will nonetheless cease collection efforts against the complainant as a gesture of goodwill.

They are trying to charge my wife and I twice a month when it is suppose to be a monthly payment and are saying we are a payment behind when they charged us twice at one time and told us to dispute one of the charges with our bank. So magically we are behind a payment. (Notice that the two that are the same price and date have different amounts for balance of course in the negatives as we were in the process of closing that particular bank account) Loan taken out in late June. Paid July and august payment you will see august was taken out twice on the same day, I will also provide the email for day they say the first payment is due.

      Business response

      09/16/2022

The gist of the Complaint seems to be that Moneytree allegedly submitted two payments on the same day that magically resulted in the Complainant falling behind on his payments.

Contrary to the Complainants description of the Complaint events, there is no magic as to why he is behind on his payments.  There is a very simple reason for it, namely he has failed to pay two out of four of his scheduled payments, even after requesting and receiving additional time to repay.  The Complainant authorized two date changes for his payment scheduled for 7.23.2022, ultimately scheduling that payment for submission to his bank on the same day that another payment was due.  Moneytree did not decide to change the Complainants payment date.  Rather, the decision to reschedule the repayment date was entirely the Complainants.

Moreover, the Complainant admits that during the pendency of his loan and without informing Moneytree, he attempted to close the bank account from which he promised repayment would be available.   He also disputed Moneytrees rightful submission of his 7.23.2022 payment on 8.6.2022 with his bank, resulting in the payment returning unpaid to Moneytree.

Under these circumstances, it is evident that Moneytree has done nothing wrong.  It is the Complainant who (1) currently owes Moneytree $422.50, (2) failed to repay as agreed, (3) authorized changes in the dates on which his payments should be submitted to his bank for payment; and  then failed to repay even after he was given additional time to pay, (4) undermined Moneytrees ability to collect via authorized ACH by closing his authorized bank account, and (5)  failed to contact Moneytree or return calls in an effort to resolve his outstanding debt.

Moneytree appreciates this opportunity to respond to the Complaint.  We respectfully request the BBB to close the Complaint as unfounded.

We changed the due date from 8/5 to 8/6 because we thought we were going to be paid the 6th. My wife went in and tried to change it for the 8th because thats when my check would hit our bank account. Come to find out we changed the date to the 6th the first time my wife went in again and tried seeing if there was a later date and didnt even submit anything for changes and it saved it for the 6th again and then TWO payments came out the 8th for moneytree. Mind you we havent skipped a payment since we started the loan in July, we have changed the due date because our paydays land on different days but its always been paid. Anyways we reach out to money tree and they tell us to tell our bank to dispute one of the charges which we did because they wouldnt just reverse the payment on their end. Now all of a sudden we are behind a payment. They are scamming people left and right.

so they took TWO payments 8/8 and expected us to pay again on 8/20.
