I took my mother and two young girls to the nail salon, I mentioned to them I had gift certificates to use. Our services for 4 came up to $170 in nail services. I had unfinished services so this was the amount for the services received not total services requested. I had three gift certificates I received from family members over the last three years. I frequent the business often and usually pay cash or card, not always having the certificates I have. I had the three certificates total of each were $30, $30, $50! They only accepted one for $30, refusing the two for the $30 and $50 total of $80. I was required to pay $140 out of pocket. I explained the ********** state law that they were required to accept them he refused. I explained that he should know the law. He pointed out the expiration date, I stated I'm aware but by law that does not apply to ****************. He them said well that was a prior business owner not me. Is stated no, I've been coming here for years you've been the owner. He said no. I said so your a new business owner with the same name? He said yes. I said sir it's the law. He refused. I said sir you are required to accept them. He said no. And told me I owed him $140. I PAID THE REMAINDER balance of $140 in cash and told him I'd be turning him in.

Thank you for contacting Better Business Bureau. This message is in regard to your complaint submitted on 5/14/2023 against Fancy Nails Salon, LLC. Your complaint was assigned ID ******** Update on this complaint The business reached out to me to manage my complaint. They provided me their apology and refund. I went into business establishment on Monday 5/15/23. They again apologized and provided my $80, refund in exchange of my two gift certificates. I explained I would attempt to update my complaint with the BBB, and they clearly didn't fully understand your organization but thanked me. I appreciate your support to resolve this issue. I would ask for them to fully understand **************** laws regarding the gift certificate/card rules. They don't seem to fully grasp their responsibilities to the public and I believe this may very well happen again. I am satisfied with my result. Thank you. ********************************
