Service after the sale is lacking. One of my solar inverters failed in January, which means 10% of my panels are offline until it is replaced. ***** at Greenlight acknowledged they received the part that should be replaced under warranty months ago, but they have yet to perform the repair. I've been told several times that the inverter would be replaced, but then the tech never shows up. Phone calls go straight to voice mail and I don't get responses via chat or email. Completely unacceptable.Business response

Starting in March this year, our solar system stopped working. After contacting ************************* of Greenlight Solar ******************** several times, still not resolved. According to him, they installed wrong main cutoff and would have it fixed within a week. Also it appears several of the panels needs replaced that I have made him aware of. After several contacts with him, he does not return calls or emails. This has been going on for the last 3-4 weeks. System was installed within the last 5 years.Business response

This customer had a disconnect go bad that needed replacement. When this happens, the system goes down and does not report properly to the monitoring software which makes the panels all look as if they are not working. We explained this to the customer, assured him that he had no issues with his microinverters or ECU hardware and that we can schedule a service call to swap the disconnect or he can contact a local electrician, because he is outside of *****. We are in our busy season and are scheduled out for a couple weeks and could not get a technician out right away, but a tech has been out and diagnosed the system and found there to other issues yet to be determined.Customer response

In 2019 I contracted with Greenlight Solar to install a solar system on my home which they did. It worked well with some exceptions concerning the battery until November 2021. We were not at home for several months and when we returned, we found the solar system not working. the battery was showing a default and was found to be corrupted. I have been experiencing electric bills since this happened in excess of $600-$800 a month during the winter months. I called Greenlight Solar numerous times I received no response, and then I was told that Greenlight was out of business . I talked to the electrician who installed the system. A man named ******* who said he no longer worked for them. He intervened to try to get the battery system fixed. We have a service contract on a 25 year warranty with Greenlight Solar and since they were out of business, I have had a great deal of difficulty getting anyone to work on the system. I have contacted PGE numerous times weve had the meter checked, etc. etc. there are no appliances drawing the level of power were being billed for and I cannot get a resolution to this. I did get a solar company to come out and try to troubleshoot the system, I believe the inverter is not working, but Solaredge company who sells the inverter denies that there is a problem. I have had optimizers replaced and so far I have been billed in excess of $5000 to try to resolve this issue, and I am no closer to a resolution than I have been. Yesterday, a friend of mine looked up Greenlight Solar and found that they are still in business and still installing systems in this state. I have made two phone calls to them. I got only a message machine. I have had no response today , I have seen other complaints about this company that have been resolved somehow though it has taken years. I really need the bleeding to stop and Greenlight Solar to honor the warranty they sold me and fix this issue.Customer response

I have been able to contact ***** and he is trying to work on the problem. He insists that the solar system is not the problem Im having so I guess my next complaint will be against PGE. ***** also told me that hes not responsible for any of the labor costs that I have spent only the materials that are covered under warranty. Thank you for your response.Initial Complaint

GreenLight solar LLC installed my solar panels in December 2019. In winter of 2021 an intermittent leak into our family room was noticed directly under the brackets of one line of panels. I called GreenLight and after many attempts at reaching them they came and inspected the panels, and recaulked one section of roof insertions. The leak began again later that winter and I called back, asking for their roof experts to get involved in determining the leak source. I never received a call back.In winter of 2022 the leak resumed intermittently. I called my own roofing company. They inspected the roof and requested the panels to be removed so they could remove shingles to determine the leak source. After weeks of contacting GreenLight, they responded and removed the panels. My roofer found that numerous holes were drilled when the panels were installed in an attempt to find the proper bracket and bolt placement site on one of the lines of panels. None of those holes were recaulked or repaired at the time of solar installation. The roofer repaired the roof and GreenLight replaced the panels. I finally have no more leaks. My cost for the roof repair was $5800. I would like Greenlight to cover this cost as their personnel caused the leak when they installed the panels. This was not resolved within a year because the leak was slow and did not show up on the interior of my home until 2021. Also, it initially was intermittent. Finally, GreenLight was very slow to respond and work with me.Business response

Greenlight installed our system (panels, inverters, backup battery) in 12/2020, based on a plan Greenlight determined, to make us 100% grid independent. Throughout 2021 our production was significantly lower than expected. We contacted Greenlight but they made no attempt to resolve issues. In 12/2021, we started experiencing system errors and contacted ******************************* We received no response from Greenlight. Generac's response indicated that the system was not communicating properly & that Greenlight should come out to fix the communication issue & diagnose the error. Repeated attempts to contact Greenlight by ************ received no response. In 01/2022 we reached out to other licensed installers for *********************** 2 licensed installers inspected the system in 01/2022 noting issues with the system & how it was installed. On 02/01/2022 I spoke to Greenlight's owner, *************************, via cell phone. I asked him if Greenlight was still operational & he said yes. I described the *********** agreed to resolve them, per the terms of our contract. Over the next few weeks, we spoke by phone several times & each time he committed to sending someone but never did. On 02/28/2022 I sent a certified letter demanding the resolution of issues but received no response. Since this time our attempts to contact Greenlight have been unsuccessful. Other licensed solar and Generac installers have inspected the system. Each one expressed that Greenlight did not properly install the system. They also identified that Greenlight did not follow standards for designing & configuring the system, resulting in a system that is unable to handle the production load. To date, our system remains compromised. It has never worked above 50% capacity, completely stopped producing for several months in the summer of 2022, & has not produced at all since 11/2022. To date, Greenlight has made no attempt to honor the terms of our contract by servicing/repairing the system.Initial Complaint

I installed my Solar panels with Greenlight Solar in 2017. Panels and Inverters have 25 year warranty and Greenlight support warranty is for 10 years. I started noticing my Solar output as measured by the external Solar power meter and the Digitial Electronic Control Unit (ECU) showing lower output. ECU was also showing several inverters keep going online and offline during the course of the day. I tried contacting the Greenlight and also the Inverter supplier (APS ***** APS *** replied stating that there is loose connection in the wiring/breakers. I made several attempts to reach Greenlight through their official email and owner emails addresses (*****) and never got a response back or acknowledgment. I appreciate BBB help me make an attempt to get this business adhere to the terms of the warranty and help fix the problem. Thanking you.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: ***** from Greenlight Solar contacted me and issue is still not resolved. It is still being worked up on between Greenlight Solar and APS (inverter supplier).
I have not heard that APS has committed to send a replacement part or has accepted it is a faulty part.
In my previous communication with APS, they had indicated it is wiring problem and not an inverter problem. (APS email response "but if not resolved by flipping the breakers, then you will need to get a professional to find the loose connection...")
I appreciate Greenlight efforts to work this through.
Sincerely,

Complaint: 17007436
I am rejecting this response because: Greenlight scheduled a Sat visit (5/14). Nobody showed up till today. Sent several SMS to the ***** (CEO) mobile (his preferred and only means he communicates) and he has not responded in the last 5 days. Also Greenlight installation warranty is for ************************************** 4 years. Also i wanted to highlight that during installation 4 years ago, they had bad wiring issues, causing one of the live wire to touch the pipe causing it not to work and they had to redo the entire wiring. Not sure, if I am running in to the same issues

The warranty for solar panels/ inverters is a joke. Ive had two inverters go out in over a years time and to get replacement inverters takes months and multiple emails/calls. Ive had an inverter giving me issues since August *************************************************************** January 2022 however its still not reading a panel. Ive been giving weekly calls which go to a number that cannot be reached at this time leaving voicemails and emails to get this resolved and I still havent heard anything back. I understand business can be busy but dealing with an issue for 7 months is a bit ridiculous. I was originally impressed with the service for installation and the warranty when I had my system installed but as for living through the warranty Id recommend others to look elsewhere.Business response
