We are not sure what invoice she may be looking at but in our records we show nothing about a belt problem with her machine and we try very hard to help our customers with any problems they may have.

I have a Stihl weed eater that would start but would not run, it would die when I gave it gas. I took it to ********* and they told me that it "has a scored cylinder" and it "will not run properly". I paid the $18.97 fee for the diagnostic and took the machine home. Out of curiosity, I tried to start it using the regular procedure. It started right up and I have been using it ever since. Went back to the shop and demanded my money back as their diagnosis was clearly wrong. I have an older Homelite chainsaw that was running before the starter rope broke. Those are a pain to fix and I wasn't in the mood to do it and I wanted the chain sharpened too. I got the same diagnosis, "scored cylinder, no reason to fix the pull rope. Machine will not run." Took it to another small engine repair shop and they said that the diagnosis is just wrong. The chainsaw is running perfectly. I have a Troybilt leaf blower that was also diagnosed as irreparable for the same reasons, took it to my new repair shop and they confirmed the diagnosis. To date, ********* failure rate on my machines is ****%. On one occasion, with one of these machines, they said that they do not accept credit cards for jobs where there are no parts involved. They refused my legal payment method, ***** Sounds a little fishy to me. I wonder if the *** is familiar with this practice....If zero stars was an option, I would have selected that.

When we find a machine with a scored cylinder means the machine may run right now but when not continue for very long. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We do accept credit cards for all transactions. We were more than happy to refund both diagnostics fee to customer. Sorry we were not a good fit.

I guess when a small engine repair shop says that a "machine will not run", they really mean "When we find a machine with a scored cylinder means the machine may run right now but when not continue for very long." In order to find out conclusively that a machine has a scored cylinder, a compression test must be performed. In order to test the compression test on a chainsaw that has a broken starter rope, the starter rope must be replaced in order to move the piston in the cylinder. This shop said "there is no point in replacing the starter rope" because the machine will not run" because it has a scored cylinder". You can't know whether the machine has enough compression to run until/unless a compression test is performed. I also took a weed eater to them that was also diagnosed with a scored cylinder and will not run. I have been using it every weekend for about a month. They were eager to refund the diagnostic fees because they knew that they were busted.
