I contacted Baxter Construction about a bill I received for over 900 dollars for "mitigation." I have the chain of emails with the owner **** Baxter available. I asked the 2 ************************* workers that came for a "free estimate." They lied and misrepresented themselves, estimated costs, and the fact that a test did not need to be done. I repeatedly expressed to the workers that I did not want to do anything yet as my home owner's insurance deductible is $2500. They lied about a test needing to be done on the drywall. The test is only required if demolition is to be done. The workers lied about the amount of damage from the cabinet where the sink had leaked. They claimed the cabinet was "soaked" and that I would need to replace the cabinets, the under floor, the flooring, the side insulation on the house, have the granite counters remove with the possibility they would crack and need stone would need to be installed, I repeatedly informed **** that the workers were very pushy, they were constantly asking me to contact my home owners insurance. I also informed ********** felt they were trying to take advantage of me as a woman. I had 2 other licensed handypersons come out to look at the cabinet for a free estimate. They told me I was fine as long as it was fully dried. They also asked me not to share their names with Baxter construction because they would harass them. The workers asked me to give them the names and phone numbers of the persons who told me this. The workers did not go into the crawl space, they did not do any mitigation, and then I was sent a bill for almost 900 dollars. After many emails back and forth with **** he "reduced it" and stated no further changes would be made. When talking to several other women without naming the business name about the frustration I felt every single one asked me "is it Baxter construction?" **** has also threated to send my bill to collection if I do not pay by the end of today.
