Much like ********** (left a review), I also receicved a 2023 1099-*** from Appen AI **** I am retired and do not know who they are or why they would have paid me over $1,400. I have submitted multiple online messages (can't find an email address) over the last two weeks and have not been contacted. Each time I try to call the number listed on the 1099 (can't find a number anywhere else), no matter what number you select in the phone tree it makes you leave a message. I have left many messages including to their HR office. Still, nobody has contacted me. It concerns me that they have all my information including my SSN.Review from Dawn L

My son received a 1099-*** for 2023. Problem is, my son died in 2022. They used my address which was not my sons address and they used the last for of his SSN correctly however the other five numbers are Xs. Additionally, they have his last name incorrect. No way to get in touch with this company by calling them and I am not leaving my info. on their website. Unfortunately, it sounds like someone is using my deceased sons SSN.Appen AI, Inc Response

this is the worst company ever- the projects ****, endless application process, never any work, terrible crappy customer support, never pay you for any contract work, i been with appen for several years, and just 2 days ago- april 26thy 2023 they send me a contract termination, with no valid exscuse- this is just the review im feeling- im about to file a ton of complaints. this is all a long story short.Review from Shari Lynne T

I have been under contact as a Review for Appen since 2019 when it was a good company to pick up side work from to do from home. It started to slide in the last year or so, and it totally unraveled in 2023. Don't expect a lot of projects to try and work if any, and the ones you already are on won't pay you for half the tasks you complete without a lot of fighting on your part if at all. Forget about any Support, it is nonexistent--you submit tickets and never get responses or if you do only to be told they don't have the means to help you but they will forward it. Apparently, that means to some dead-end place never to be read again. If I could give it one point of a star I would.Review from Jane D

I've been working with them for many years. Everything was great until 2 months ago when people on my project started to not get paid. Hours kept disappearing from invoices and the support department continued to close tickets without resolving the issues. Those who spoke out in the project's chatroom were banned from the chatroom and had no way to reach the project leads. I have been having issues with my pay for three months. They applied my hours for *** and June and then took them back. I sent screenshots of my *** and June ****** July has three missing days on my invoice and they told me if I wanted to get paid for the hours I claimed that I would be removed from the project. I stated that I want to be paid for the hours. I have worked for Appen since 2016 and I have never had this problem.Review from Kai E

My personal experience was great until May 2022. They didn't pay me for a day in May. They didn't send my May paycheck as they should. Then when I made a support ticket and FINALLY got a response they balmed me!!!??Now I've been removed from the project I worked 2 1/2 years for. I was furious. Furthermore, my June ******* and everything was spot on but now for July invoice everything is wrong again and I've been asking for help for 2 months. They haven't paid me for almost 56 hours of work. And the "support team' is useless. I am beyond annoyed and would LOVE to close this chapter out and I wished it would have gone smoothly but at this point only Appen is to blame.Review from M. M.

I was scammed out of over $3,000 by an employee of Appen on the pretense of being hired for a work from home position. When I contacted the company they simply denied that the person was employee of theirs, despite the fact that I provided evidence that the person was indeed an employee of theirs. From that point they have refused any attempts from me to contact them. I strongly recommend that no one do any business with this company at all.Appen AI, Inc Response

We have become aware of several groups who are pretending to be Appen employees to scam potential contributors and employees. We will never ask you to send money to apply or start a job with us. We will also never send a check in advance. We will never ask you to send personal identifiable information outside of our secure job site, Appen Connect. We will only contact you with a @appen.com email address, no other forms of communication (e.g., WhatsApp, Zoom, ************* Hangouts). Please check that all virtual meeting invites have come from a @appen.com email address. All job applications should be submitted through our Jobs page to the applicable site. Appen responded to my complaint by stating that the person that contacted me is not an Appen employee and therefore refuse any responsibility in the action. This is even after I informed them that I have evidence that the person either is (or was at one time) an Appen employee. They also stated that they are aware that "several people" have been posing as Appen employees for the purpose of scamming people. If this is true and they are aware of the issue, what steps have they taken to resolve it? In my opinion they are still responsible for the financial loss I suffered.Review from Scott A

I never subscribed to their mailing list and get daily emails I do not nor ever did want. To unsubscribe from a list I never joined I have to start an account with the company. I never asked for these emails and wish to get off their mailing list.
