Brought my 2017 Ford Fusion into the service department because of a "SHIFT SYS FAULT" error that wouldn't allow my vehicle to shift out of park. I easily replaced the plastic bushing that commonly causes this issue. A week after replacing that plastic bushing, the "SHIFT SYS FAULT" error reappeared, and I was unable to move the vehicle out of park. I had my vehicle towed to Les Stumpf Ford service department to determine the issue. I voiced my concern when dropping the vehicle off that it was a vehicle/computer/error code issue that needed to be reset/cleared because the $2 plastic bushing broke the previous week, and I replaced that myself. They replaced the shifter module which cost $740 with parts and labor, and everything was fine for about a week. The "SHIFT SYS FAULT" error reappeared about a week later, and I brought it back to Les Stumpf Ford's service department for a recheck. They said everything was fine, and couldn't find the issue. A couple of days later, the "SHIFT SYS FAULT" error reappeared for a second time, and I needed to have my vehicle towed home on a Saturday night. I left a voicemail for the service department manager about his service department misdiagnosing the shifter module, and paying $740 for the exact issue to not be resolved. I requested a partial refund for the misdiagnosis, but he never returned my phone call.
