Been looking for a custom AR upper to be built for a LE duty SBR with the possibility of future purchases. Originally was looking at a local in state vendor but heard negative reviews about same so I did some internet searching and found TNTE Sales. I decided to give them my business since their website advised that they could do custom builds. I ordered the upper at a cost of approx. $500.00 and in the block provided for "CUSTOMER INSTRUCTIONS" I advised that I needed the upper to be specifically built with a triangular handguard cap, which appeared to be an option they could do. After several weeks i received the upper which was not a problem. Upon opening the box however, i noted that the upper was built with a round handguard cap and not the triangular one specifically requested. I called to speak to someone and the "employee" I spoke to immediately had a standoffish attitude and stated to me that they didn't built it as I requested because I never purchased the triangular handguard cap (a $4.00 part) and since i never got prior approval for the change, it was not done. I told the "employee" that nowhere on their site did I see anything stating that i needed prior approval for "custom work" and that they had a "CUSTOMER INSTRUCTIONS" block so I assumed it would have been done as requested. I then inquired as to why they did not call me to discuss the order if it needed prior approval? I also asked why would I need to purchase the requested handguard cap if they put on a round one when they cost the same? The employee basically told me that it was built how "THEY" wanted it and basically told me to F off. For the life of me I can't understand how a business that builds custom orders wouldn't built the product as the "customer" requests? I now have to pay a gunsmith to dismantle the upper to change the handguard cap to the one "NEEDED" to get the upper that I originally ordered. Pretty sad that in this time and political climate a company involved in firearms would treat their customers like this. Total shame.

We were never contacted by the customer prior to build to change the specs on it. The requested change would not work as the advertised product. FTC and credit card regulations dictate we ship as advertised . We state in several places we do offer custom services however we have to be contacted first so the correct process can be followed. Our FAQ page does talk about our custom services. We provided a A++ upper and service to this customer, he however did not follow our policy which is why the endcap wasn't changed. As to why he wasn't called, we are incredibly busy given the demand. We simply do not have the ability to reach to everyone if proper procedure isn't followed. Typically our customers do not assume something will be done, they reach out and contact us prior so we can set this up. The customer in the prior correspondence never asked if we could do his request or how to do it, he only asked for his LEO discount. He may send it in for us to change out the cap.
